If I ever NR I would love to walk in and tbh as long as there is someone else playing to mark cards wish that people I play with did the same.

The game can really get you down at times no matter how good your mental side is and the last place you should be is out on the course. If you can do NR and go to the Bar, Practise ground, Brothel or other escape and come back with a different outlook next time. We are not professional golfers we are supposed to do this for our enjoyment so why should we tortutre ourselves when it gets that bad.

Don't get me wrong I have never abandoned a competitive round just because its one of those days but I really think there should be less stigma attached to it.

I'd even be happy to walk round and mark someones card but even that would be frowned upon. The last thing you should do when in that frame of mind is keep on out there, you'll save yourself high blood pressure, golf balls, golf clubs and maybe even your wallet and phone if you play on a course with water.

So long as you don't mess up someone elses day then leave the course and your sanity intact.

I'm not disagreeing with you Swinger - just, that's not how I see it and don't know if it's just a high handicapper thing. But if I've just had an 7,8 or even a 9, all I want to do is better the next hole and try to get my game back together.
As has been said many times on here, we just won't always play to our expectations. I also think that some golfers cannot handle it too well when their game is off and you hear them say things like "Oh I've lost all interest now,I might just walk in". Nothing annoys me more. :mad:

We're not professionals and supposed to play this great game for enjoyment, and some should accept that and not worry too much - their game will come back again. :cool:

Come on , let's have fun out there. :D

Golfmmad.

Some people will always go to the extremes and 'I'm off guys, 2 over my handicap after 9 and the bars there see ya' Isn't what I'd want to see happening by any stretch of the imagination but some people really can do more harm to themselves but staying out there and feeling they have to.

I'm not the best loser on the planet I'll admit that and I am happy with about 0.01% of any shots I have played on any given day so I know first hand how bad it can get for people and I can see it in alot of people.

I do however really enjoy the game for the most part and have shot 80's through to 100's all with a massive smile on my face.

It's the 68's with snapped clubs and a barrage of bad language that are the most concerning!

Most of the time it's not score related for me and I've seen plenty of people level to their handicap through 9 holes who really shouldn't be out in a comp.

By the sounds of it I need councilling!! But I know that this game frustrates the hell out of a lot of people at times so I guess I'm not alone in that boat.

These are just my observations, its a great game it just seems to really annoy the hell out of most people at one time or another (Some more than others!!).

One of my favourite quotes always has been 'Show me a good loser, and I'll show you a loser'. Maybe that has something to do with it!

Even at my lowest points (and there have been many) I've always put my card in. If I come last so what. Someone has to and the only thing that really matters is getting the 0.1 back. I can handle the banter and its getting rid of the increase that becomes the challenge.

oh we both put the cards in, and yes tied last with one or two others who also endured the fog start.

perhaps we need a different abbreviation
NR = Not Returned (card)
NS = No Score (hole)

NR is the sin
