Looking for recommendations of courses we could play in the Northants are next Saturday (non members able to play on Sat).

Playing Northamptonshire County on the Friday.

For what you're looking for I would say try the following:

Brampton Heath
Overstone
Collingtree
Silverstone
Delapre
Hellingdon Lakes
Staverton

Not sure if they are all non-members, my pick from that bunch would probably be Hellingdon Lakes or Silverstone.

I’d play Whittlebury Park or Collingtree.

Based on recent weather Id pick whichever drains the best, and unless its changed over the years I expect its Brampton, though no idea what condition its in these days. But wherever you do plays its going to be secondary to Nhants County

Whittlebury is awful in the winter, will be a muddy mess.

I’ve not found it that bad, I know it can get a little wet in parts. Although I think a good number of courses will be a muddy mess at the moment.

Brampton Heath, being heathland, and right next door to County, is probably your best option. (used to live in Northampton).

I’m an ex member at Whittlebury and live in Silverstone. I’d give both a miss if you’re playing on the weekend. Whilst they will be ‘ok’ both will still be a little soft. They’re both clay based so won’t be anywhere near their best for another month or so.

Agree with other views that Brampton Heath is your best bet. Next door to Northants County and on similar sand/ironstone based land so free draining.
