North Berwick Pro Shops

Hi all,

I am on a family holiday this coming week in North Berwick and was looking at perhaps buying a few items such as jumpers, hats from the local pro shops e.g. North Berwick, Muirfield, Dunbar etc.

Will it be possible to just rock up and walk into the pro shops? I’ve never been up that way before so unsure on the etiquette!

I suspect most pro shops are ok with passing traffic from people looking to grab stuff

If you’re worried just give them a call to be sure

North Berwick, absolutely no problem at all. It's separate to the main clubhouse, just go in and peruse away. They won't care if you are playing or not.

Muirfield, I'm not sure you can get that far if you aren't playing. Not been there myself but I think there will be someone on the drive/by a gate who lets you in, or not. No harm in trying though and if you are in the vicinity............

Don’t forget Archerfield. Pretty decent pro shop there.

Great shop at Archerfield. I once called in at Muirfield the day before I was playing, I didn't get through the gates! Might be different now. Go to Gullane, you get in there.

Dunbar Pro shop is away from the clubhouse, by the 1st tee. Well worth a visit, and go the otherside of the wall to see most of the course. Very welcoming place, ditto Kilspindie.

You’ll be made welcome at the Dunbar proshop and at NB.

There is no pro or shop at Muirfield. Their merchandise is sold at the main proshop at Gullane GC, at least it was the last time I was in.

People collect all sorts of weird stuffy, I actually find this one of the less odd things to do. At least if they visit the shop they have been to the site and made a purchase rather than doing it online.

Gullane used to sell a load of Muirfield stuff in fact up until recently mUirfield didn t even have a pro shop.

I completely get where you're coming from, but say you had the chance to go to The Masters, you'd be buying merchandise right? I'm taking an empty suitcase.

Not quite the same. The OP is asking about just popping into the shop, not watching or playing.

I doubt any pro shop in the country would object to somebody walking in and spending money there. Be a bit weird if they did.

I went to Turnberry and couldn't afford the green fees so I bought a towel and a scorecard holder instead. And a £24 club sandwich.

A lot of the top clubs have some very good clothing , have asked for people to pick up items from clubs they are visiting

I’ve got a Cap from Pebble Beach, bought back for me as a present by a friend who knew I played Golf.

Should I of refused it and come across as ungrateful to someone who thought they were doing a decent thing?

Exactly, I went to the Ryder Cup in the USA and bought quite a few mementos to give out to friends and family.
