No ryder Cup for Poulter?

Much as he's been immense for the Europeans, the form in recent years has been scratchy at best and I think this saves Clarke a really difficult decision. I hope he's around the camp as he'll still have plenty he can bring to help those that make it

No surprise hes been named as a vice captain

Personally think that's a very good appointment. Ryder Cup obviously huge for him and with the number of rookies potentially in the side his passion and experience will be of great value to them. Would expect to see Westy as the final VC if his form isn't good enough over the summer.

I don't watch a lot of match play (or even play it myself) but from reading posts on here its almost portrayed as a different game. So was wondering if the team were picked on 'current form' what is the most recent comp to measure current form for match-play? Who's top dog etc just now?

Edit: think I found it, the WGC in March, hope the two forms of the game have more in common that I fear as its a little worrying if that represents current form

With captains being just an overblown honorary cash cow job for the boys, vice-captains are surely the most superfluous jobs ever.

Interesting book imminent : https://www.amazon.co.uk/Captain-My...=1465242931&sr=1-3&keywords=ryder+cup+captain

Really is time for the emperor's new clothes to be called on the captains role in the ryder cups. Media seems to lap up the illusion though.

Sorry but why does anything have to change ?

Whatever people think a captains role is right now it's working for Europe and has done for decades.

The players numerous times have commented on their captains and how important they are to the team.

Clearly not an "overblown cash cow" if you listen to the people that matter

Along with the author's book due out in Sept. "How to win the Ryder Cup." He's what I would call a red top journo, good on titles and banner headlines but no substance behind them.
