Well the wife has sold the MX5.

I've predominately had rear wheel drive cars for 20 years. Spitfires, MR2. So I've learnt to handle and enjoy them. Safely of course! So the loss of the the little Mazda is disappointing.

The V70 just ain't the same.

How weird.. We picked up a MX5 last night. What a absolute hoot for a small engine! Wet slow corners are so much fun :D

Haven't driven front wheel drive for 15 years. Would be quite happy to go the rest of my life without trying it again. Front wheels for steering, back wheels for drive. Makes sense. Cramming it all in up front is a nonsense. Horrid to drive.

I went on a skid pan course in Somerset. Chatting with the guys there, they had interesting views on driving in snow. What they see in winter is this: In the ditches are front wheel drive cars and 4x4s, as most who drive them haven't a clue as to what is going on til they lose grip, and end up in a ditch. The rear wheel drive guys struggle to make any forward motion at all, but eventually get there through bloody mindedness.
From my experience, driving down the M1 in 8" deep snow at 20 mph, being over taken by Golf GTIs doing 80 odd, they are probably right.

Went on a mini cooper track day on Friday and came away completely gobsmacked by the sheer pace and acceleration power of the mini cooper S. Does it make me a bit... Well.... Feminine for wanting to go buy one???
