so I made the mistake of washing my proquip waterproofs (and used conditioner) last time out they held water after about 9 holes. Was looking up nikwax last night and tempted to give it a whirl

has anyone done this, was looking at the stiuff you add to the washing machine

Yeah good stuff Gibbo, used it on my waterproofs the last couple of years.
I use the nikwax cleaner stuff first then i keep the gear in the washingmachine and add the waterproofer.
Remember and clean the soap tray before you add the Nikwax products.

I then walk the wet (dripping) gear through the house and stick in the tumble dryer on a low heat for half an hour.

Are the ProQuips Gore-Tex or some other breathable fabric?

If so re-wash at 30deg or below and that will remove the fabric softener from the pores.

You should was Gore-Tex etc every so often to keep the fabric working to the best of its ability

Never put Nikwax on such fabrics!

I would check with ProQuip. The treatment could effect the breathability and you could end up with an expensive bin bag. Waterproof yes, but you would be soaked in sweat!

A spray may be the best?
