Nikica Jelavic

I thought this thread was about McIlroy's girlfriend.. :)

Do Liverpool need another striker??

My god yes. If you play 2 up front, most premiership sides should have 4 options. We generally only have carroll, Suarez. Kuyt and Bellamy can do a job, but we need a sniffer a la Bent or Defoe.

He's more of a target man.

Done well at Rangers but no means a top class striker. This would probably signal the end for Andy Carroll.

As someone who has been to all home matches since we signed him Andy Carroll has never really started at Liverpool, and in the tweleve months he has not shown anything to make him look like he is a premier league striker, he will play against Oldham on friday and score a hattrick thats the level he is capable of playing at.

We desperately need someone who can put the ball in the net. Converted 8% of chances this season the top two have converted 20%, if Liverpool had that conversion rate they would have scored 53 goals this season!!!

In a word......no.

Pish,he is playing at the right level at the moment, could possibly do a job for Leeds or Scunny.

Very biased green tinted view by Mr Hoops.

He's a decent player, he will score goals at any level if given the service. Look at it this way, that absolute donkey of a player Connor Sammon is playing in the Premiership. Jelavic is at least 5 X the player he is.

And you say I am losing my touch with the rod???:whoo:

Anyway, OP - do you have insider info, or just another internet rumour.

Zinedine Zidane was apparently spotted buying houses in Southport hundreds of times in the late 90's but never showed up at Anfield.

Carroll isn't as bad as he's shown, he's just not suited to anyhing other than basic football. Stoke would probably take him off you for £10m. Then again a £20m loss would be unacceptable and a lot of people would lose face. Gotta give Newcastle credit, made a £35m profit and replaced him with Ba, a better striker for free.

I can't see why Liverpool would want Jelovic, he's not a prolific striker at all. Someone like Pato from Milan would be worth it. Huge potential, just hasn't quite done it at Milan and available for £30m.

As for your conversion rate, that doesn't always show how clear the chances were. Suarez needs to up his finishing, he's been so wasteful. Saw he's managed 1 goal in his last 11 games, which isn't good enough for a top striker.

My m8 has a good source at Ibrox but I hadn't heard anything else before he mentioned it to me.

According to Wiki (Iknow, I know) it says "3 January it's was offical thats Nikica Jelavić moved to Liverpool on a four-year deal and Liverpool payed Rangers around £7m. His offical number will be 22 wich he replaced Danny Wilsons number, who moved to Blackpool on a long season loan."

He does look like a decent player.Decent goals tally this season, but about half of them have been penalties. If the Currants have got £7 million for him they have got themselves a reasonable deal, as have Liverpool.
