Hey guys,
I was at the range today when a guy came to the bay next to me. I noticed he had a nikey split cavity demo in his bag. I couldnt resist asking for a look, he let me hit half my bucket with them :)
After seeing them online and reading alot about the lack of forgiveness, i was very surprised.
I hit 10 balls.... 6 aiming at nothing. Nothing special but 4 trying to impress my friend aiming at a green 140m away. I nailed 2 straight at it and then two at another green. Only one went away from the target and it was 5m short a couple of metres wide. So i was very surprised to find out i can actually play and hit these irons. :D Maybe january... :D
Anyways... Is there anybody that plays the nike irons or any nike clubs for that matter? Do you like them?
Thanks :)

I've got the victory red 3 wood and I love it. The VR blades are lovely too.

They are bringing out a VR version of the pro combo (cavity long irons and blade short irons) that look fantastic.

I have a set of Nike VR TW blades 7-PW together with 4,5,6 iron in the split cavity, (got the idea from Paul Casey). They look nice and play very well. They are both forged.

I also have a set of VR full cavities. These are also a great club, very easy to hit and score with, ( I shot a level par round last year with a demo set of these). I have these for the winter and for if I'm not playing too well.

Can recommend all these Nike irons.

I'm going to be selling my VR blade/split cavity set next week and will be putting them in the For Sale section.

As nike are releasing the pro combo soon does this mean the splits will be redeuced...?? The full cavities are already only 299! Do you think there is a chance this will happen with the splits?
Also do you think it would be better to get the full cavs for the consistency?
Thanks

Definitely with your handicap, the full cavities would be much more suitable. I think you can get 4 dozen Nike balls free also on a lot of websites with the full cavities.

Cheapest I have seen the split cavities on line is £399. I would think they are unlikely to drop much below this. A lot of websites still have them at £450+.....One website has them at £599!!! Bet he doesn't sell many...

Got a Nike Dymo STR8fit driver. It is a quality bit of kit. UST Axiv core shaft. I would seriously look at Nike again if I was changing.

RickG, why are you getting rid of your current irons?

I have VR wedges (56 & 60) and a Sumo2 driver. I am a big fan...

It helps that the VRs look beautiful, which gives me confidence in them (half the battle?!) and the driver is long and straight.

The driver is out of my bag at the moment, but only because of the horrible noise it makes!

i have a sq2 3 wood and am using a machspeed driver with a voodoo upg and it is class! thinking of changing my irons to the tw blades as hit these at the course and very impressed, like the split set idea too!

Change my gear more than my underwear!!

Got a fantastic deal on the Mizzie irons (£375 from Nevada Bobs) and liked the look of the new MP woods so bit the bullet and got the full setup.

I would love to keep the VR blades but can't justify having 3 sets and they are just too similar to the Mizunos in terms of playability. So I'm going to keep the VR cavities instead as they will be great to play in the winter.

Bit of a bummer as I just had the VR's regripped a couple of weeks ago with golf prides.

i just picked up a new set of the VR split cavity irons and they are simply brilliant - I live in the States and was able to find them online, brand new, for $300, with DG S300 shafts - cannot beat that deal. These irons will replace my very old, and much-loved, Hogan blades (40th anniversary model).

Cheers,
Jason
