My first post here so bear with me. 8 of us are booked up to go to Le Touquet at the end of April and was after a bit of advice about decent, cheap bars and restaurants to go to. Also if there is a bar suitable for watching football as the Champions League semi-finals will be on while we're out there. We are staying at Le Nouveau Caddy so places within walking distance of there would be more desirable.

Any advice would be more than welcome.

Just booked for three of us to go the same place in June (2 nights, 3 rounds .... plus the World Cup is on)

When you get back could you post a message on here telling us how your trip went and any decent places to go?

One of the problems with Le Touquet is that it is unswervingly dull at night. There isn't really anywhere of note to go that I have ever found worthwhile.

There are a number of bars open but all are very similar and rather uninspiring. Go with interesting friends and make your own entertainment with good conversation and a few drinks would be my advice.

Thanks Snelly.

There is a great bunch of lads going so making our own entertainment will never be a problem. We could have a laugh in a ghost town !!!

Yes will do Blue Fraggle.

Hi Blue Fraggle

What a fantastic time we had in Le Touquet. Played La Foret on day 1 - lovely course set in the forest close to Le Touquet, my only gripe was there were lots of unreplaced divots but that just shows how popular it is. Day 2 we played at Belle Dunes which is about 40 mins drive away. What a fantastic course ! Beautiful location but very tough. Course was in fabulous condition with some stunning scenery. Day 3 we were back in Le Touquet and played La Mer. Another tough course set amongst rolling sand dunes and again in good condition. There were however two temporary greens but the course were very apologetic about this and gave us 12 free beer tokens and 6 range tokens !!! Can't see that happening in the UK !!!

We stayed at Le Nouveau Caddy which is a great little hotel with hospitality which couldn't be faulted. Nothing was too much trouble for them.

Eating out isn't as expensive as I had feared - we found a nice restaurant in Rue de Metz (can't remember it's name though) and a 3 course set menu was €25. Good value. My favourite was a restaurant called Le Bureau where I had squid fajitas for €13.95 which I found great value. They also had a very varied menu which caters for all tastes.

Expect to pay €5 for a beer which was the price in 90% of the places we drank in.

Have a great time and let me know how you get on. I am already planning next years trip !!!

Morning Bronse,

Many thanks for the report .... sounds like you had a top time and made a good choice in picking Le Touquet.

I go on June 20th for 3 days and cannot wait. Will let you know how it went

Cheers and good luck in your future golfing

Ah! A thread I might know something about!

Two things you must do
1: Dine at the family run restaurant, can't remember the name, but it is directly opposite the Red Fox Hotel in the centre of Le Touquet. It is a quality place to eat. Just a few yards from The Globetrotter British pub.
Edit: Make sure you book in the restaurant tho.

2: Play Hardelot, just a few miles away, fantastic course.

There is also a pretty good Casino at the top of the town, and I have errrmmm, 'heard' there is a lap dancing bar by the front, but of course couldn't possibly comment!

Order the Moules special if you like mussels, it is a HUGE pot of mussels with your chosen sauce, with a pint of stella and a plate of fries, think we paid about 6 euros for the lot last time.

Have fun!

Was there two years ago whilst the Euro's were on. Stayed at Le Manoir, which we really liked, they had a TV in the bar showing the football. Ate in town one night, can't remember the name of the bar but it was on the shop lined road running towards the sea front, probably about 50 metres from the front on the left hand side. they had a huge TV on the wall showing the football.

On the golf side, played Le Foret and La Mer in Le Touquet, liked both courses, with the latter my personal favourite. We played Les Pins at Hardelot on the way back, which is a lovely course.

Belle Dune is probably my favourite course in that area, played it last year and booked in to play it again this year, although we couldn't get into Le Touquet at the time we want to go this year because they have some large French comp on that utilizes all the courses in the area and fills out the hotels. Consequently, we're going to Golf d'Arras this year, and trekking over to belle Dune for one day because it was so nice last time.

I couldn't possibly comment on the.. erm, entertainment.... but I will say the casino paid for the... erm, entertainment. Had a fantastic run of luck in the casino, and blew the lot across the road.

Cannot wait chaps .... cheers for the comments
