The Help For Heroes GM charity golf day is played first week in October, which I believe is the same time as the Ryder Cup. Would be a shame to have two big forum events at the same time.

I think its a very good idea, and if it were within a 3 hour drive of Surrey I would attend.

Alternatively, those who find H4H too far away (Hampshire or thereabouts ain't it?) have a chance to go to a nearer meet.
There have been many efforts to arrange events over the years and it's the same old story. People moan that venue x is too far away and benefits others. There was huge issues around Race for Hillside and that was a regionalised comp. As the saying goes you can please some of the people....

Disagree with this. Why shouldn't someone try and sort something around the same date in a different location. Not everyone will be able to make the location/date anyway.
Give more folk a chance to play a forum meet.

The H4H day is one of the outstanding successes of this forum for what it has achieved. It would be stupid to arrange another event at the same or similar time that would deflect any attention away from H4H.
There are plenty of other times throughout the year that something else could be arranged.
