Im working in Newcastle, staying at the metro centre. I possibly have some free time Friday morning, where would you suggest sneaking in 9 holes?? Even as far up as Morpeth/Ashington/Blyth.

We've had it rough up here the last few days
Lot of courses still closed today

So may need a good ring around or a local to recommend

But, I'd give Newbiggin a shout 1st
Within your driving range specified, good draining course
Or maybe Tyneside GC, in Ryton village, not too far from where you will be staying

Our place has been shut for the last 3 days, but I'm expecting it to be open again tomorrow, but no doubt will be pretty wet now the snow has melted, 90% certain to be on temps.

If I was staying at the Metro Centre, I'd go for The Filly at Close House, £25 a round on TOT.

Played Tyneside twice and really enjoyed it, good luck on the coffin hole.

South Shields wont have any drainage issues and is a nice place. Bit further north, Longhirst, near Morpeth, is always in good nick and you can always get a cheap deal on the booking sites.

I think you might be in for a spot of shopping tomorrow. Courses are both wet and frozen still. Your best bet will be one of the courses near the coast. Good luck.
