[snip]As for the football, the only big idiot in Newcastle is Mike Ashley. It was his fault th Messiah left for a final time and that hughton wasn't given the time he deserved. [/snip]

And there in lies the problem, Messiah, give me a break he was average, like the club is, and in all probability ever will be.

Just because there is a staunch support does not mean that any club is big, the idiot that punched the player typifies everything that is wrong with football. Big spoilt bairns!!

According to sky sports the idiot of which you speak is not a Newcastle fan but a home fan.......

It does not matter what shagging team he supports my arguement is still valid, typifies everything wrong with football.

I agree it's wrong no matter who he supports but it implied it was a Newcastle fan, and it appears it was not. As a Newcastle I would be happy if we could maintain premier status, and maybe sneak top half the table, Europe is a bit away but with the right structure we could get back these in a few seasons, the big club issue is not believed by the majority of fans it's more a media thing in my opinion.

So whats your team then PAL saying as your so happy to slate my club off

Glasgow Celtic...you ask why?

Back to your clubs plight.despite the BBC going mental over these things, it's hard to tell what's a shock in the FA cup these days.

So many Premiership clubs don't give a toss about the tournament, and judging by the crowds, neither do their fans.

It's a desperately sad fact that finishing 17th in the Premiership but getting knocked out the FA cup in the 3rd round by Stevenage or Morecambe or Little Shitter Athletic is looked upon as success these days.Sad indeed, the FA Cup is becming like the League Cup,a waste of time. :(

The problem I see with Newcastle fans (some, not all) is that they think that because they have a big ground and a great loyal support it gives them an automatic entitlement to win things.

I dont get the keegan thing either, he is an overrated nutter who I would never want anywhere near our football club.

Sad to see so many empty seats in FA Cup games aswell, disloyal supporters do my head in.

By the way, White Hart Lane, Sold Out as per usual for our FA Cup game against Charlton. Every single home game sold out this season, as per usual.

Jon, not for the first time you are blowing it out of your harris about the Toon.

When Spurs have a 52000 seater ground, let's see how often they fill it. I am still yet to meet a Toon fan that has ever thought we had a right to win anything. We would like to win something, but we're quite aware of the fact that we generally tend not to.

Oh, and at Wigan, Toon fans were 5000 of the total 13000. Why exactly would thousands of Toon fans make yet another away trip to the South at the end of the expensive Xmas period? Especially for a Cup tie against Stevenage?

And you can make your formal apology any time you like about the fact that the so-called fan that punched the player is in fact a Stevenage fan.

I would have thought the fact he was in Stevenage colours and came from the Stevenage stand would have been a clue but as you clearly have some sort of chip on your shoulder about the Toon, I don't suppose you'll let pesky facts get in the way of your prejudiced view.

I do wish however that people would just ignore Dodger. I have done for months and it's made this forum so much more entertaining. There's a lovely little function that lets you do it and it makes this place seem much nicer ;)

Given the fan base and the money coming into the club however, we can see a rise in fortunes again and given the right manager (sadly not Alan Pardew) and a few better thought out signings we can hope to get back to Europe.

Well you best get a new owner then because ashley's pockets are tighter than a nun's chuff!

And does anyone actually have evidence that it was a stevenage fan that punched the player? Just seems strange that a stevenage fan would want to punch a player for the team he supports after a win like that.

The sky coverage I saw showed him with stevenage colours, him seemed to punch the player and then run off to celebrate with the other fans on the pitch, was really quite bizarre..

Still think its a Newcastle supporter waving a Stevenage scarf so that he could get close to the player and mingle into the crowd afterwards. After all what Stevenage fan would lamp his own player? Especially after a win like that.

I will find out if it was a stevenage or newcastle fan.

I have hertfordshire old-bill friends.

And when you have it confirmed from your 'sources' that it is a Stevenage 'fan' (although why you need to check with them when the player in question has already confirmed it's a Stevenage fan), will you be offering your fullest apology for your unsubstantiated insult to Toon fans?

From the Guardian:

A man has been arrested on suspicion of assault following an alleged offence in the aftermath of Stevenage's 3-1 win over Newcastle in the third-round of the FA Cup on Saturday.

The home team's defender Scott Laird was knocked to the ground as hundreds of fans ran on to the pitch at Broadhall Way to celebrate the shock win.

The incident is believed to have happened at about 7.30pm. Police have arrested a 24-year-old man from Stevenage.

And from a Stevenage fan:

Word from the terraces is it was an infiltrator, possibly a Luton fan or just someone intent on hitting someone. Apparently he’d approached two or three lads before Scotty. Last time we met a lot of Geordies got in amongst us and though it missed the child at the time I saw a supposed fan attempt to rugby tackle a small child celebrating the draw, he missed and was caught at the time thankfully.

During the game he was supposedly pissed and amongst the main regulars and nobody recognises him just a shame that one of our greatest moments in the clubs short history should be overshadowed by this disgrace.

If you haven't seen the incident yet:

No respect for Keegan ever since he said he wouldn't leave Fulham for the England job. Be honest. We all knew where you were going so why lie. Also first sign of it getting a bit squeaky (England etc) he does a runner
