Whatever way you look at it they weren't great tonight. Looked seriously short of ideas in the first half and once they went behind there was no real fight.
It seems a lot of premiership sides see the FA Cup as a distraction these days. I don't get it. Get to a final, is great for the club, the fans and the bank balance. If you play a top 4 side you've guaranteed a Europa Cup spot next season regardless and if you win it even better. I'd love to see Fulham give it a real crack. They proved last year they have enough players to play two competitions.

I have not seen the game to be honest so I can't comment on tonights performance, but Newcastle aren't the only premier team to go......

Agree with Homer.....diddy teams like Newcastle should be trying their best to win the cup as it is their only chance of a trophy...Toon actually had a half decent team out but regardless of making 3/4 changes a top league team should be more than capable of brushing aside a lowly ranked team!

I am sure there are many other clubs with fans as deluded. I am from Newcastle originally and have supported the club all my life, I am not deluded at all, I realise that we aren't a top side, we have great support and unfortunately they normally pick the nutcase when they interview a fan.

Even Stevenage would have barely made any money out of yesterday's game with the shared gate, Newcastle's expenses and extra policing (not enough evidently) etc.
Fair play to Stevenage, good game plan well executed, ride the luck and take your chances when they come. Nothing to do with the other team being a joke club.

I think you'll fine that most of us 'brain dead' fans are actually reaslistic about our propects but the media always seem to pick on the village idiot to interview. But lets face it every team has them. There's nothing worse than a southerner talking about their foreign team, foreign owners and foreign manager underachieving.
I dont think we are bigger than we are but I do think we have some of the best and most loyal supporters in the country.
As for the football, the only big idiot in Newcastle is Mike Ashley. It was his fault th Messiah left for a final time and that hughton wasn't given the time he deserved. He is also unrealistic about the teams prospects and expects us to qualify for europe with a team made up of players that sent us down and a few bad buys (perch to name one).
Given the fan base and the money coming into the club however, we can see a rise in fortunes again and given the right manager (sadly not Alan Pardew) and a few better thought out signings we can hope to get back to Europe.
