newcastle links golf course please

I will be visiting newcastle in august and was wondering if anyone can recommend a links golf course in the area. Never played true links golf so fancy a crack (yes, I have plenty of balls)

Newbiggin is as close as you'll get to links near to Newcastle but it isn't proper links.

Dunstanburgh Castle around 40 mins northwards is probably the nearest truest links course although Newbiggin by the Sea is 'linksy' around 25/30 minutes same direction......not sure about southbound,other lads can tell you that.

nothing linksy around sunderland/Newcastle area
have to go a bit further north I think

South Shields is Heath land, linksy.
Our than that you will have a 40 min drive.

First proper one southwards is Seaton Carew I believe, 35 miles away
