Sorry about the spelling error, I meant to say Whitby advice, but knew I would get more interest this way!!!

I'm going to Whitby on hols next week, but can get 2 rounds in, midweek or Saturday. Looking for some advice on where to play, and seeing if anyone fancies a knock (weather permitting, as I believe it has been bad over there).

If not, where would you recommend? I hear Seaton Carew is great, and I have an open fairways pass, so can get some discount.

Any advice, greatly appreciated, Whitney(Liverbirdie).:)

First of all im very sad to hear you are going to Whitby on holiday, my thoughts are with you! :D Just make sure you wrap up warm!

Seaton is a very nice course, can be very tough when the wind blows and has some nice holes. The scenery of the Power Station etc isnt the best view, but your there to play golf so dont really notice it. Will probably be about an hours car journey from Whitby, you might be able to find something suitable a little close.

If your wanting to play links then consider Cleveland Golf Club in Redcar, it's a little closer but from what ive heard is a really nice course, just havent got round to playing it myself yet.

I wouldn't get your hopes up for playing too much still 3 inches of snow on the ground and not much sign of moving here in York, best course would be Ganton 20 mile south of Whitney

It will be touch and go for the weekend in North Yorkshire. snow everywhere and no real thaw forecast before Friday.

The Scarborough courses (North Cliff and South Cliff) are very good. South Cliff is in the GM 100 best courses as a 'hidden gem'. Also Filey (bit further from Whitby) and of course Ganton on the A64 between Malton and scarborough if you fancy a real challenge on an 'inland links' course.

Bring your thermals, you'll need them!

Ganton is 28.6 miles (thanks aa routeplanner!) and 40 mins from Whitby. If you want a treat head there. You will not be dissapointed !!!!

Another vote here for the South Cliff course Scarborough... Have also enjoyed a good day at Filey... Whitby course is a bit 'plain' but as I joined up with a couple of welcoming members on day of my visit I had a good day there also... Weather might be against you though visiting at this time of the year...

Whilst in Whitby I thoroughly reccommend a visit to the Magpies restaurant for some great fish 'n chips absolutely superb...
