Newbie Forumite and Golfer - Essex area

Hi Folks,

Newbie here so I thought I'd see if there are many golfers from the Essex area on the forums at present - don't see a specific introduction thread so forgive me if this has ended up in the wrong place!

Bit about myself:

• Originally from Northern Ireland, living in Essex since 2003.
• Keen cricketer; now decided to take golf more seriously after playing the odd round yearly.
• Liverpool fan :whoo:
• 35 years young; just married; no kids.
• No official handicap but if I get into the 90s you'd have though Liverpool had won the Prem! (It's our year.....promise!!) a.k.a not very good!
• Joined a local club on trial membership to see if the bug continues; once I get to know members, hopefully get invited for a few rounds.

Be nice to here from you all, especially anyone in the Essex area.

Welcome along. I'm just up the A12 in Suffolk. Also a Liverpool fan and ex season ticket holder when I lived up that way. Gave up cricket myself for medical reasons and rekindled an old relationship with golf, although we still hate each other!
Which club have you joined?

Craigg; Golf Club is The Burstead, south of Billericay. Giving up cricket too as the right elbow can't take it anymore; thankfully the golf swing doesn't agitate it!

I've heard good things about The Burstead but never had a chance to play it.
I'm just down the road, around Hornchurch/Rainham, so would be happy to have a knock around with you sometime.
Not sure about the Liverpool bit, but I'm sure I'll live

Craggles - In my novice opinion, The Burstead is a lovely course. Only started my trial membership at the beginning of November but have played every weekend so far (bar 1, where I played at Trent Park, North London) and I'm enjoying the challenges the course throws my way - which is a lot considering I have a lot to learn! Once I get more confidence in my game, I'll be up for a round.

As for being a Liverpool fan; being originally from Northern Ireland and having your local football team, Ballymena United, you'll quickly understand why I support Liverpool.

Welcome Scoobie, I used to be a big Liverpool fan, but I'm a glory-hunter, so I now follow Ballymena.
