evening all

one of the things we lost when we switched to the new forum software (apart from auburn warrior) was the user category titles that forumers notched up as their post count rose

Cant remeber the exact pecking order but it included the likes of...
newbie, old hand, pooh-bah, carpal tunnel etc

Now it's boring old junior member, member and senior member (for up to 30, 30-100 and over 100 post respectively).

Hardly seems right to have an enthusiastic newcomer who has 101 posts on the same rank as Homer and his 20K posts!

Anyway.. we have an opportunity to set new categories and I wanted everyone's input/suggestions

I'm looking at perhaps 10 categories

Up to 20
21-100
101-500
501-1000
1001-2500
2501-5000
5001-10000
10001-17500
17501-30,000
30,000 and above

should we go golf themed and if so what should the link be?
types of golf shot - shanker to shotmaker
players - from Nick Dougherty to Jack Nickluas
courses - from some goat track to Augusta National

or could even be something where we do a legends of the forum

dresses like Murph/Viscount
angrier than TheCraw
stokes it like Dodger
Mods it like Brendy
Mate of Smiffys
Confimed V-Easy user
Keener than Homer

Could even introuduce some sort of prize for getting to the next level

Lets get the debate going and then hone in on a shortlist

I like the idea of keeping golf theme and like the idea of courses as category titles, but maybe iconic clubs through the ages is a way of recognising not only number of posts but length of device to the forum maybe even have dual title ie. niblick Augusta big berth old course,, r11 wentworth etc??

Perhaps score related (although not enough categories)!!

Triple
Double
Bogey
Par
Birdie
Eagle
Albatross
Hole in One

Hmmm, that's too short...perhaps add "Too many" and....

That's the best I can come up with !!

I like the golf shots theme, it's something we can all relate to.
My first suggestions would be:

Up to 20 Air shot
21-100 Topped
101-500 Fat
501-1000 Shank
1001-2500 Sliced
2501-5000 Hooked
5001-10000 Bunkered
10001-17500 Drawn into the green
17501-30,000 40 foot putt
30,000 and above 450 yard drive (something all forumers aspire to)

More steps would be good, especially in the 100 to 1000 bracket.
This would allow shots like Out of Bounds, middled, chip-in, fade, heart of the green, power fade, grip and rip, duff, etc.

Think we should avoid forum legends, as some of them are quite old and may not be around much longer.:D

Old types of golf clubs sounds good. Having just visited the St Andrews Museum I can put forward Driver, Brassie, Spoon, Driving cleek, Mid-Mashie, Mashie Spade, Mashie Niblick, Pitching Niblick, Niblick and Putter.

I have to agree with Rich here a good idea, its what golf was played with originally and Mike ,Murph and Viscount get dressed in the dark there like something out of a time warp or Scobby Doo,lol

I would prefer to see the likes of noob, hacker, shanker etc rather than course names or clubs etc. it is only a bit of a giggle after all and nothing too serious.
