hi there after years of being a cricketer i decided to take up golf aswell 2yrs ago at the grand old age of 28 ive been playing around my local course huthwaite since and i love the game but im a bit worried about going to play at other clubs id really love to start travelling to golf weekenders in england but ive been told a lot of clubs wouldnt let me play there as im not a member of a club and do not have a handicap card i was just wondering if you kind people could maybe help me out with a few pointers thanks

Welcome to the forum DCI. Keep an eye on the "arrange a game" section.these lads play some great courses and majority of the time don't need a h/cap certificate.enjoy the banter, and get stuck in. :)

Welcome on board Guv.

I'm sure there will be plenty on here willing to give you a game. A lot of clubs aren't too fussed about handicap certificates or being a member anywhere as long as you have your own gear, look half decent and observe golfing etiquette (and any rules about dress code in the clubhouse).

It's always good to join a club if you can (and HID and finances permit) to get a proper handicap and play in competitions but there are plenty on here that are, or have been, nomdic golfers

welcome mate, i'm new to the game too and you get good advice on here as well as a bit of ribbing but all good fun :)

seemples, design your cert on ur pc or you can buy them on ebay.. just dont give yourself too many shots or you will considered a BANDIT,

i played cricket until i was 28 but had to pack it in because of dodgy achillies tendons , i miss it badly but playing golf makes up for it

Hello and welcome. Is that Huthwaite in Derbyshire ? If so your not a million miles from me as I am from Chesterfield. If you are at a loose end I will give you a game at one of the courses round here Tapton is a really good Muni. What you play off ? You are better off in the long run though if you can join a club a get a Handicap Cert and play in comps etc

hello DCI welcome to the forum and the game.

For getting a good cheap round check Direct Golf and Teetimes. They have loads of deals at different courses throughout the country.
