New to Golf - Irons Advice Please

Fair comment, Ethan. I suppose my mates and I are lucky in that not only do we know this guy well (he plays with us occasionally), but his brother-in-law is a work colleague who puts a lot of business his way, so it wouldn't pay for him to mess us around!

I can only speak from personal experience, that being several years of top sevice since he took the store on.

I'm going to give AG a try this weekend and see what they can do for me, at the end of the day it's a fitting which has no obligation to buy. What's the worst that can happen??

I haven't been playing very long (started with lessons this summer) and have recently ordered a set of irons after having a fitting done. You may find some useful info in this thread about what to expect from a custom fitting.

I found that my although they claim to custom fit, my local AG could not perform a true custom fit (testing different shafts, measurement of launch angle / smash factor / carry etc).

I found a driving range nearby who carried a varied stock, but who also had a pro there to perform the custom fit without pushing a particular brand.

Regarding increasing the regularity of your lessons, I asked the very same question to my pro this summer. He said he could increase the regularity and make more money out of me, but it wouldn't be doing me many favours. He recommended actually increasing the duration between lessons enabling me time to actually practice what he taught me before coming back to learn more. An honest approach which I now appreciate was good advice.
