Hi there!!
As a newby to this forum malarkey i thought i would introduce myself in the correct manner and tell you a few things that might interest you.
I started playing golf when i was a twelve year old, having some pro lessons along with my father and brother. Played at the local muni(Duxbury Park Chorley Lancs) until we moved on to Fishwick Hall in Preston.
As the years passed my game improved until i was 12 hcap.
I then stopped playing for a number of years(buy house, get married)and about age 26 started playing again back at the muni. Stopped playing again when child was born and i was made redundant(1999), then i had a stroke in 2002 and after recovering from all that i have recently started playing again.
I am playing at the local 9 holers a lot and also at the range and the game is coming back pretty good. On a very wet course i recently played my first 18 holes in years an carded an 89 so was very chuffed.
I am finding it difficult to play at many course purely through lack of a current hcap but i am hoping for membership somewhere in near future.
I have waffled for long enough now so its time to shut up.

welcome to the forum! 89 is very good especially if youve not played for a while, Im sure you wont have any trouble getting a hcap if you score like that! Hope you dont mind me asking, but how od were you when you had your stroke?

Welcome big russ. Sounds like your back on some good form. Glad you are back into the game and with scores like that, (and our help) it might not be long before you break 80.

Another one for the North West get together??? Lets hope so.

Hi.Big Russ.

I have a 5 day senior membership at Duxbury & we have a

regular 4 ball twice a week,as you know it`s a very wet

course at the moment and a lot of work is being done on

new drainage. I used to live overlooking Fishwick Hall but

I didn`t play in those days.My partners have given me a

h/c of 20(un-official) but always seem to beat me by 3or4

strokes. With friends like these!!.Which 9 holer do you

play Yarrow Bridge.

Thanks for the encouraging comments so far.
I was 34 years OLD (i've always been od) when i had my stroke and it took a while to come to terms with but touch wood i am back to as near normal as i will ever be.

I usually play at Highfield in Wheelton but also play at Charnock Brow,Euxton Park and others. It usually depends who i am playing with.

Welcome to the forum mate, nice to hear that you have recovered enough to play golf.

Reading that you had a stroke at 34 is a real thinking point for myself (and the other fat b@st@rds I suspect) and makes me think that major beer and curry isn't necessarily the way forward as I used to think.

nice to see yo can u, i hope you enjoy the forum . lets hope you can play the gm get together, i thinks its gonna be at northenden golf club ,

if you ever fancy a knock im mostly available mon - friday but can play some weekends , check out my course below .

Welcome in Big Russ and I am voicing the same comments as the other guys in hoping you get stronger every day and let this fine game be part of your rehab.

89 is a good foundation to build on and set your goals at beating.

I was glad to see haplesshacker was the frst to welcome you as this is a forum where posts and numbers really do mean eff all. You are as important in here whether you have 1 post or 1000 posts.
