Hi All
As you may know im knew here, having just starting playing beginning of march.
Today, because of the weather, I finally got out after about 2 weeks. My New MD ST2 irons (Thanks for the advice guys!) Came yesterday so I got to try them out.
To start off, I loved them! I need to get used to my range with them, but I hit most shots well and generally loved the feel of them. So thanks to all who helped advise me, £87 brand new was a bargain!
Now for my putting, as some may have read with my "300 yard drive with a £26 driver" thread, I said I hit the ball fairly well. I drove superb today, my only real bad drive was the only hole that has out of bounds to the right, so guess what I did
My irons were pretty good to although I do need to get used to how far I can hit with each club.
My putting was shocking. I went round in 101. Now on the front 9, I 3 putted 6/7 times. I wasn't getting close with first putt, then id be scared on the close putts and trickle them short. Awful. I went out in 49, minimum 6 wasted shots with my putting. Should have been a 43 at most. I did chip in though which I thought would be a good tactic of avoiding the putter
Back 9, much of the same, plenty of GIR and plenty of 3 putting and a 4 putt. The hole I went out of bounds in was SI1, a massive par 4 so I ended up with a 9 on there which ruined the score.
Im really happy with my driving and content with my iron play, as I know as I get used to the ST2's That will improve. But I know, minimum 10 shots today could have been saved, maybe closer to 13/14.
its only my 4th round at the course and since ive started, and i know if I sort this putting I can easily start shooting high 80's which at this stage id be over the moon with!
New Putter and putting lesson deffo No.1 on the agenda!
Anyway, for any other game improvers looking at irons, for around the £100 the ST2's are an absolute bargain!
