New shaft in my driver?

I returned to golf earlier this year after a 20 year layoff. I’m currently playing off 14, but am hoping to get lower.

About three months in I bought a second hand Ping G30 driver with a stock Ping (stiff) shaft to replace the ancient driver I had before.

To my question... Everyone seems to go on about having clubs custom fit. Is it worth being fitted for a custom shaft on it or should I just wait until I’m due to upgrade my driver and get custom fit on that?

I’d describe my driving as average (at best).

I’m also having regular lessons from my local professional.

Use the winter months to asses where you are.
Ask your pro during your lessons if he can bring some different shafts to compare.
Seeing your ball flight he will be able to fit you into a shaft.

If you buy a new club to soon your swing may improve and the change may not suit the club.
So take your time choosing.
Pick his brains and enjoy.

Had a G30 and loved it - sometimes wish I had never got rid of it

Would 100% delay any purchase until you're back in the swing of playing regularly as that could have a massive impact on chosing the correct club and shaft combo
