Have just seen the new R9 super-tri driver!!
To be honest it looks fantastic and i am surprised it hasn't got the publicity it maybe should have had, seeing as it is due for release in early march and that the first R9 was somewhat a new revolution for the changable head position.

I really would like one *hint hint* :) but it looks too expensive. However, if my driver were to 'accidentally' break I may just look into buying it

Hit one of the 'old' R9's and was very nice but untill I get a chance to get on a launch monitor with one and compare it to my Superquad will be sticking with what I have.

Doesn't seem excessive to me, I just dont get what people always say about TM. Just because they bring out a new model, it doesn't mean you have to buy it. Other brands seem to bring out new models just as regularly.

I know what you are saying but three versions of the same basic model seems pretty poor. It seems Cally are following suit as there are more and more reincarnation of the Diablo coming out. I'm all for giving punters a choice but I'd rather have three or four separate models (R9, Tour Burner, Burner etc) than one rehashed

As an avid Taylormade fan I can't bring myself to say anything bad about the clubs :p

I can understand the concept of the new Supertri. The R9 was a 420cc head with MWT (moveable weights) and FCM (flight control management) The R9 460 as in its name is a 460cc head but with only the FCM. They hadnt developed the a way of puting the movable weight in the 460 head while keeping it within R&A regulations. This is what I understand anyway.

Now after research and development they have come up with the Supertri that has combined both. The forgiveness of a 460cc head but with the adjustability of the MWT and FCM.

So in theory it should be the best of both worlds and a great driver (if you like the R9 range)

Sorry, but I work in R&D. There is no way you can release a new design every 3 months. No can do. These things take a minimum of 9 months to bring from design to production. This is a deliberate ploy to bring to market every 3 months.
Titleist release every 18 months. That means every release is a genuine move forwards, not a marketing exercise.
If TM can do a 460c model, with all the trimings now, they would have had this design available before the release of the original R9. They have launched sub standard product since, in the hope people would upgrade to the 460 one now released. This is what gives TM a bad name.

I tend to agree and wonder what the logic behind it is. OK I realise in simple terms is about shifting units but at what cost (not monetary) as it can't enhance the TM brand. If I'd paid top whack for the original R9 and then seen a smaller headed version or this all new all dancing model I'd be pretty hacked off having shelled out without any hint of these being on the horizon.

Wonder when the R10 will come out?

And will the new R9 really make much difference to the average player?

I feel sorry for the retailers. What happens to all the R7 Limiteds/R9's/(460's that havn't been sold? Flogged off at bargain prices so the retailer doesn't make much money. I bet TM won't take them back.
