Possibly, or could it be he had the best credentials amongst the cardinals?

It's widely reported that 42% of the catholic population are in South America so it was going to happen at some point.

Seemingly he is a bit of a cool dude , dont understand italian but again seemingly his speech started with How ye doing or something on them lines , he travelled with the other cardinals afterwards rather than on his own & it was on the news this morning he popped into a school to visit , (seeing as it was yesterday evening he got electec & i heard it on the 9am news im not sure how this happened but hey ho ..

What will change .. hopefuly alot , in reality , maybe a bit ..

I hope he doesn't get uppety about the Falklands...

He already did that when Cardinal of Buenos Aires.Kinda understandable given he's praying for the 650-odd Argentinian dead.Doubt he'll comment again when he's Bishop of Rome.

My son is delighted, he's been thinking about his confirmation name for a while and had decided on Francis at the weekend.

As long as he respects the rights of people who don't believe and doesn't try to force his superstitions on the rest of us, I wish him every success.

If only!

Well it would be nice if the first things he sorted out was the corruption and the Vatican's role in the cover up of child abuse by priests. Or the fact that their stance on condoms is doing nothing to help stem the lethal spread of aids in Africa. But you know what, I expect that will happen just as soon as the majority of golf clubs introduce a more relaxed dress code. i.e. when hell freeze's over.

Pope Francis is progressive, open to women priests & contraception. However he is opposed to equal status for lady members in golf clubs

;)
