In all honestly for the likes of a mid handicapper like me, is there really any difference between a Vokey, Nike, these Mizuno or any of the other wedges out there. Doesn't it purely come down to feel, looks and cost as we aren't going to make one behave noticeably differently to another or am I missing something

It makes a huge difference! Just ask the marketing department at Mizuno! :D

Everyone should buy at least 4!

You said yesterday that you found the Vokeys a little heavy for you, so I would have to say there is some difference, but I do take your point.

I just bought a new MP-11

however my 10 yr old Mizuno wedge looks really similar to the 11 and 12-

Look nice, although like others, don't see much difference between wedges these days. I have to say though that I have come down from 16 to 13 this year, and the main reason for this is that I have been using a ping G5 lob wedge and a ping G5 sand wedge. Forgiving and easy to hit from all lies with a full or half swing.

G.I. Irons tend to sit too closed for me , but the wedges are fine. Its funny how you always get G.I irons these days but not wedges !

Interesting you should say that, they are bringing out some JPX wedges too.

Mizuno did do an mx range of wedges but they were not all that common. GI irons are so popular, yet wedges are mostly blade like. Most sets now just go to a pw as the highest lofted club, i'd have though sw and lw could be also offered. They would certainly help lower scores!

When you get down as low as wedges are there is so much loft that it acts as the forgivness without the need for all that cavity and weighting I think.

im thinking of getting the matching mx200 gap wedge as i struggle with consistency with my gap wedge that i dont suffer with my PW.

so id rather lay up 105 yards from the green than 85 atm!!

Interesting point about "GI" or cavity back wedges. I suppose the thinking is that with wedges "feel" is more important than "forgiveness" so there is less need or demand for a GI wedge. It's true you don't see many around but there are some options.

Mizunos JPX range are already out

And the Ping range all have some degree of cavity

Must say the Anser wedges and the EYE2s do look good...but am I old enough? I'm only 50.:D :D :D

Also TM Burners and Cleveland CG16.
