dont judge them on one round, give them a go for a while.

there you go then, try a softer ball, i that will sit down a bit quicker, but doubt you will get back spin from a 6 iron still

Agree with this.

I hit a 6 iron into a par 3 last weekend. Between the pitch mark and where it finished was about 15ft if that.
