We'd like to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy Holidays and a very Merry Christmas from all at Golf Monthly. Thank you for sharing your 2025 with us!
I am assuming we are talking x forged cavities here and not x forged prototype blades? If it is the cavities, go for it, nice clubs. If it is the blades, Noooooo!
I concur. I think the bladed versions will be far too touch to hit with consistancy and the small sweetspot but if the are the cavity version there will be a degree of forgiveness. Either was I'd think long and hard about whether such a club is really the best thing for your game in its current state. If you're happy then go for it and enjoy the felling of nailing them
I have to be honest and say I was really looking forward to going to the Cally demo day next Tuesday and trying the X22 tours in particular. Sadly not to be but I'll be interested to know how you get on with your new purchase
Had the Callaways for a few days now, 300 balls on the range and 1 round. I had a few "what have I done" moments early on but now that I've run them in a bit I have to say they are fantastic. They are definitely less forgiving than my TM's, but the flight and accuracy on well hit shots is remarkable. I've probably lost about 10 yards as they're 2 degrees softer on lofts, but I'm not concerned about that as the grouping of shots is so much better.
I do have to focus more on every shot, but I'm glad about that as it's almost forcing me to be a better player. Overall great clubs and I'm delighted, I really feel like the clubs are going to take me to the next level which is exactly what I wanted
I reckon everyone should play with the most forgiving irons they can manage to put up with.
I LOVE all the super G.I. clubs....Big Berthas, X-22s, Ping G5/10, Raptures, I-403 AD, RAC OS, all that lot.
Trouble is........all these bloomin' clubs are offset.
Trouble is therefore - lots of hooks....
Glad they seem to be working out for you. It must be a good thing for your game having to focus more on each shot and I wouldn't worry to much about distance if you are hitting them off fairways and onto greens. Keep up the good work and give us a progress report once you've tried them a few times on the course. If they really work out why not do a review and post it in the review section and I might try and feature it for the mag in due course.
