I have had the Nike VR Split cavity irons for about 18 months now and have always liked them, however after reading up on some other customer reviews of the clubs the majority seemed to hate the grips, I was wondering if any of you have had to change grips and can you recommend me somewhere relatively cheap I can replace mine ? also any recommendations on the actual grip I could choose ?

Also I have a Ping G15 driver 10.5 degrees reg shaft and have decided it is time for a stiff shaft so any recommendations on a good stiff driver shaft ?

cheers !

It is all personal preference with the grips but try gamola golf if you are gon to buy them and do it yourself or go to your local shop/pro and have a look.

With the shaft go and try a few different ones and see what gives you the best results.

For grips I think that it's hard to look past Golf pride multi-compound if you look around the internet you'll often find ones cheap sonewhere.
As for shafts it's a completely personal choice, I'd go to your local pro shop and try out a few with driver heads similar to yours.

It is probably as cheap to buy a new driver as it is to re-shaft one, unless you are very specific, and luck out on ebay. Shafts pretty much start at £100 and go up from there. By the time you get someone to fit it, and put a grip on it, you could be up to £150 easy.

Gamola always for grips. Have a look at the new GP Whiteout, its awesome.

Shafts, I disagree with Murph (there's a surprise;)) trawl ebay and you'll pick up a bargain. I think Ping G15 driver is a 0.350 tip however a 0.335 will fit if you buy a ferrule which you'll also get from Gamola if required. I just got a Diamana Blueboard for £40 delivered. All that's required is a bit of patience and know what your looking for.

So what part of 'unless you are lucky' was wrong?

If you dropped your driver off at your local pro, as most golfers would do (note the op has not even changed a grip before, let alone a shaft), and asked for a Diamana blue board, fitted, with multi compound grip, it isn't going to be £40.

Telling the op that it only ever costs £40 to reshaft a driver is misleading in my view.

Not always true, I got fitted for a shaft, it fitted to the club and regripped for £90

It was a stiff shaft and it revolutionised my driving! I went from hitting 4 fairways per round to missing for on 2011

I say find a local fitting centre and get the whole lot done, ask about prices and look for free fitting or the fitting cost taken off the final purchase.
