New Golf Site - feedback please.

I'm all for giving feedback. There was a guy on here recently asking for help for a university degree or similar which if we had all been cynical could have been looked at as a ploy. However as far as I remember he got some superb feedback and wrote on here about how grateful he was. This however smacked of something much more commercial and as I said in my analogy it is highly unlikely that you would start a conversation by saying "I have this wonderful product, please look at it and tell me what you think".

As I said it may be that he has honourable intentions which is fine. In MY opinion, the site is unwelcoming, not particularly user friendly, short on products, poorly named and uncompetitive in terms of price

Homer you maybe right but the cynical atitude to people trying to do something can be a tad tiring at times. The guy wants feedback & his site isn't yet at a state that would get many punters let alone the likes of ourselves on here who can see a promo post at 500 yards. he's asked for opinions some of us have given the lad helpful constructive opinion even though we don't want to even really look at another online shopping site right now, some have been humerous, but some nameless others have simply been downright dismisive verging on rude.

We can all be dismissive at times, but to be blinkered into this cynical attitude all the time I can't be doing with it any longer man.

I’ve got to take a different view. As someone who’s constructed a few web sites in the past I can tell exactly how my site is doing. I know how many people look in each hour, day, week, month and year. I know what pages are more popular than others and even how much time each person spends on each page. Anyone worth their salt would be looking closely at competitors sites to see what they offer or why it’s so popular. Anyone who is into web design as a job should know if it’s any good or not, it’s more difficult to get the site into peoples minds.

The easiest way is to go the direct line and do what’s happened here. A web design company would surely try to sell their web designs not the site that’s up and running. I don’t think the business, golfstuff, would be too happy that the web design guys are asking if it’s any good or not. After all the web site must have been sold to golfstuff as a good web design in the first place.

The way I see it, people have got to gain trust before my natural scepticism wanes especially when the first post directs us to a web site selling golf gear.

Lame, lame, lame..........

It's either a) blatant advertising or b) someone a bit "dense" who doesn't trust their own ability to build a decent website.

Do I "pop onto" the forums related to my work and ask for opinions about my website.....? Do pigs fly?

The front page currently shows a "Limited Edition" Scotty Cameron putter for £399.

No wonder it's a limited edition; limited to being bought by people who are rich, stupid and gullible (A rare combination)

not rare in golf with the annual parade of the 'all the gear' brigade - but rare among golfers I grant you.

And I supose if I were to put my critical hat on so to speak the Titleist bobble hats in one advert are several years out of date...rofl. I supose if i were going to be cynical, (&perhaps a bit paranoid..lol) I could possibly say someones got a load of dead stock in a warehouse clearance to get shot of & so Homer does make a few valid & very intuitive points about the way the site looks & of course the other cherry we've all commented on the price once he got past seeming to me simply dismissive.

I still stand by trying helpful to anyone who asks for an opinion wherever possible (even if like myself having a bad migrane earlier on today still managed). So I'll apologise to Homer & anyone else if I was a little sharpe.
