I am considering replacing my 3 wood with a Ping G20. There's nothing wrong with the Callaway Great Big Bertha War Bird that I have, apart from maybe it's age. I hit it sweet and my flight is either a draw or straight. The feedback from the club is great I know from the sound and feel when I've hit it right. Another plus is its titanium and makes a lovely noise when struck.
I know the answer is go try, but has anyone else upgraded from a club of this age to a newer 3 wood and found a significant difference/improvement. With technology advances I would have thought there would be a significant difference.
Thoughts please..........

I went from an 15 yr old 4 wood to a hi-tec 3 wood with tour shaft- easier to hit, yes. Further, maybe. Worth it, probably not if your hitting your current club well.
went back to the 4 wood;)

I'm just about to change my 5 wood for a newer one (srixon z star) so I'll get to see soon

Have a similar problem to you my 580 is titanium and it just sounds so good when you hit it

I have the G25 3 wood and really easy to hit and not a great difference between that and the G20 if I'm honest. However with so many good models out there you really do have to try them. However I'd definitely look at the likes of MD and Benross too as you may get a top quality new model for not much more than you'd pay for a G20

I was torn between md and benross myself before I found the srixon

Both the md st3 and benross speed range are very nice looking clubs with the Matt black finish and decent shafts and he md can be had for £50 on ebay, the benross is under £60

In the modern world of £170 fairway woods that's great value

If the srixon doesn't sit right I may well still end up with one
