New Driver Ordered :)

Yes am aware but i have sorted myself out with the above and hitting balls on the range exactly what am looking for so going to stick with that.

Rather just get what i can get now than wait until new model comes out as not saying i would like the new model neway

I had one of those. I hope you keep yours longer than I kept mine. The first club I have ever bought which lasted less than 6 months.

Already have the 909D Comp which only had 3 months and its going.

The way i was fitting the D2 on the range was exactly the ball flight etc i have been looking for so was happy with it. The pro gave me 3 different shafts to try and went out myself to give them a go and the pro launch shaft was exactly what i needed in the game.

I would like to carry a 3 or 5 wood but there is no need for me. I sat down and worked out if i really need one etc. I can hit my 3 iron 220 yards so if am further away on a par 5 i just lay out. It would just sit in the bag looking good 99% of the year without getting used.

From the range it looked like i was hitting the 8.5 degree further etc than i do normally as my last 2 drivers have been 10.5 degree but am excited to try it out on the course and see what am like with it.

I have played all season like this. well i have for the last few. I have tryed 3 woods / 5 woods and hybrids and just cant hit them consistent enough to carry them.

I am playing about with a ping 1 iron at the moment and went i took it out on the course i was nearly hitting it as far as my driver, Thats when i was carrying the 907 D1 driver.

I am joining another club next year which is longer than my home club and i want to learn to carry and hit say like a 3 wood as i think i can benifit from it.

I had a 907D1 for a while. Very straight driver. Straight down the middle, straight left or straight right. Spinny head too.

The 909 is a good driver. I like the D3 better than the D2, but Rory Mc does OK with the D2.

PL Red is a pretty low launch driver, so if you can flight it, should get a good penetrating trajectory. I have just added 3 and 5 woods to my bag, both with Whiteboards, so they do not go too far left. Another option is a 17 degree 909H with a strong heavy shaft, say a UST V2 105g shaft, so you can keep it from getting away from you.

already have a 909H 17 degree with stiff voodoo shaft which is currently on ebay.

I do hit the ball pretty long but the flight i wasnt happy with cause as soon as there was a slight breeze of wind i was in trouble cause the ball flight i had was a climbing one and then down. The one i was hitting on the range was more of a progressive one that had alot suitable ball flight for all round play which i was happy to see. More like a dart movement.

The standard Voodoo for Titleist is very soft and not for the better player. I hook the blazes out of it, and I bet you have more clubhead speed. You could consider seeing a fitting specialist who can put in a suitable shaft, and tweak the head to give you the flight you want, by using hotmelt or setting the face open a bit.

I wasnt too happy with the 909D Comp anyway. So once the D2 arrives and give it a blast etc i might end up still getting it fine tuned to myself with the weights etc. As it was the ball flight i was more concerned about the most.

I will wait for it to arrive and go from there. Am looking forward to it arriving now

I am not surprised. The Comp is not really a 3 handicapper's club, more Titleist's attempt to reach the middle handicappers who have trouble flighting the ball. The D2 will probably suit you much better.

Thats true. I was really happy with the ball flight with the D2 head and the red pro launch shaft. I did change to 2 other shafts while on the range as the pro gave me the key etc to change the shafts myself. The ball started to climb using the other shafts.

Once it arrives am going to get it fine tuned by the pro so its really setup for my game. Big make over this winter all fired up ready for next season

Just back from ordering up my new driver for next season

Titleist 909 D2 8.5 Degree Loft / Red Pro Launch Shaft - Stiff

:)

Absolute madness mate! With a new Tit coming out now you would be better waiting, infact plenty better drivers out there than then 'D' series for Titleist. Most unforgiving driver I ever owned and I play off Scratch.

God speed!

I know there is other drivers but i liked the way the D2 performed on the range etc cause i was going to try others out but i didnt even get round to it cause the D2 gave me the exact results i was looking for.

I know there is a new model coming out but its a while before you will see that in the shops. Also i have vouchers from prize money which only lasts 3 months and it would be expired by the time the new model is out.
