2 of my playing partners both used to have the Cally ERC's (which were banned a few yrs back). The ban was something to do with the thin face helping to hit it further. Yet since changing to a Nike Ignite & Ping G10 they hit it a fair bit further & a lot straighter.
First longdrive club put on 20 yards easily, never gone back to a regular length driver - I still have one, but use it as a 3 wood. Having used a 48" usga club for years the regular length driver feels really easy to control.
Unless you are using a club that does not have a cor of .83 then the only way you can go is longer shaft.
yes increased distance easliy by 30 odd yards, to be honest it was down to me having a totally wrong loft at first.
I was using a 12* wilson deep red (only bought it as it was a steal 2nd hand)
I changed to cleeveland hi bore xl 9.5 * and the extra distance was immense, however sometimes the shot shape does tend to fade a bit more than id like due to the lack of loft and slightly open face i think.
I had a Ping G10 which i used to murder but at times i was like Tiger....All over the shop....
So i bought a MacGregor Nvg2 Draw and i havent looked back since its very long and very straight.....
BUT!!!!!!
Since thinking outside the box for a change i started really concentrating on my course management i only hit it maybe 2 or 3 times a round depending on the weather as on some of our par 4's i only need a 5wood on them....
