Private purchase warranty repair?

Bought a driver (a new 2025 LE model so not stocked locally/usual retailers) from a private seller on eBay. The driver head came off the shaft 2 months later.

Now, is there any mileage contacting the OEM via the reseller? Has anyone had any experience with any brands where a private purchase within a warranty period was honoured? Assuming the item is genuine but there is no original receipt.
 
As an aside what do you mean by "the head came off the shaft"?

Do you mean the shaft has come out of the adapter, the bolt has sheared or something else?
 
It's a 2025 model, so will be in warranty. Personally I'd take it somewhere who stocks that manufacturer, as they have reps they can influence. Our club pro would help with something like this.

The first one, the shaft sheared just above the ferrule. Just took the remaining bit of the adapter out, looks like the head is intact.
 
Unless there is a clear manufacturer fault they might say it could be bag damage of mistreatment.
Or, they might just replace it without asking any questions.
What make is it?

Cobra, never had any clubs from them before. Reading forums it doesn’t seem they deal with customers direct.

As per KenL

Hard one that to justify as a manufacturing defect, you do not know what the previous owner did to it.

You can only ask.

If you have no joy at least you have a shaft to sell (as a fairway wood shaft) to offset against the cost of a replacement shaft.

Couldn’t I just tip it and put an adapter on? Albeit it’d be a bit shorter and the bending profile will change somewhat.

Or would a driver adapter not fit anymore on to it?

Yes, you (or preferably your pro) could do that.

They could probably salvage the existing adapter.

Tip trimming it by that much will probably change the flex significantly rather than somewhat.

I trimmed a Ventus shaft by 1” and it became unusable. It had cracked at the adapter so wasn’t a loss.
 
I had a similar thing happen recently where we sold a LAB putter via ebay and the buyer came back to me 2 or so months later to advise the head has fallen off and asked if I can deal with the warranty side of things.

I just said that I sold it in good faith that it was in good condition and that they should contact LAB direct to see about where they suggest getting it repaired as I can't see why a head would just fall off.

Personally I think it is a risk you take when you buy the latest clubs second hand that you buy on the basis that the warranty is not valid.
 
To update, picked it up today, the shaft was tipped (~14mm / 3/4") and the salvaged adapter re-fitted. Tried it on a sim/range - feels good, if not better :) (for me)

Overall, easy and relatively quick resolution, not involving the warranty claim hassle etc. Fingers closed it lasts :)
