New club dilemma

As I mentioned in another thread, I had a custom fitting at Mizuno, New Malden at the weekend, and am worried about the combination that came out of it. Last night I went to a Ping fitting at my local club for a comparison - I am heading the wrong way age wise, but age jokes aside, the Pings (G15) appeared to be a better fit for me.

I know that club head speed is little to do with the club itself, but a key point yesterday was that my club head speed was 6/7 mph faster than it was when I did the fitting at Mizuno on Saturday. If I'd had the same club head speed on Saturday, would the fit have been different?

Yesterday I also remembered to put my own club on the system, interesting point was that my own clubs are all standard, not the half inch longer both companies recommended, nor any loft/ lie change, but when I put the tape on the bottom and hit off the board, the lie was spot on perfect....

Ping have always had a good reputation, but in my head/ heart I quite fancied playing Mizuno. I'm now torn whether to go have another bash with Mizuno at my local AG (also a Mizuno fitting centre), go with the Ping which seemed to fly very nicely, or just stick with what I have?

I appreciate that this is a decision I have to make, but I still have too many questions and not enough answers.....

One thing in favour of Ping is the fact that the demo guy dug a 7 iron out of his van in "my colour" and gave it to me to try for a few days. I hit it quite nicely on a few holes after the fitting, will give it a pounding on the range tonight and see how we go. I can feel myself straying to the dark side (that's the going blind side
 ).

Dilemma....

If I remember rightly you were knackered at the Mizzy fitting - am I right?
That could certainly account for the difference in swing speed ad could affect the outcome of the fitting - biggest issue with Custom Fit is that you are fitted for the swing you bring on that day.
I'd head back and have another go at the Mizzys when you're not so worn out. If there's no difference then go with the clubs that work best.
They have a similar fitting bay at Direct Golf in MK - don't know if they have Mizzy's to try but may be worth a look, a second (or third!) opinion...

If your initial swing was "borderline" between requiring a regular or stiff shaft, the additional club head speed might (might) have seen you being recommended a stiff shaft over a regular, but the actual lie/loft recommendations wouldn't have been any different I wouldn't have thought.
I was fitted at New Malden for my MX200's and it was recommended that I have my clubs altered 2 degrees flatter. I never did get on with them.
My current Pings were purchased "off the shelf" standard black dot with the offer that they could be altered free of charge after 3 months use if I felt they needed it. In the 15 months I have had them, I have never once thought about taking them back and getting this done. For me, they are fine.
The beauty of the two clubs you are looking at is if you bought either set "standard" they could be altered afterwards for you. The Mizzies due to the fact they are forged, the Pings because they are Pings!
It will boil down to what you feel more confident with. Just make sure you get the right shaft flex for your "average" swing speed.

Bear in mind that there is no standard length, loft, or lie angle between different manufacturers, or even different models of club.
You may also be so familiar with your own bats that you make something happen in your swing to middle them, even if they haven't been lengthened and lie angled.

When I was fitted, the view of the fitter was that after 6 swings with a club, you could make any thing work.
