Looking for some advice and guidance please guys.

Bought a new car last Tuesday, its a Seat Leon 1.2 TSI 2011 plate and I am having a few issues with the dealer. They are independent from Seat however they seemed quite legit and look like they have been around a good few years.

The first issues I had were with insurance and the tax disc last week, I eventually got it resolved but it left a bit of a bad taste with the dealer.

Now, the current issue I am having is with the tires. Firstly on Saturday the tire pressure indicator came on - no problem i thought i will just blow them up. Did that got back and reset the light. Problem sorted........

Then driving to work today, its a 50 mile journey, about 47 mile in I noticed the car very slightly pulling to the right. Got to the car park and couldnt get a space so had to reserve out of the car park and so forth to get to the next car park, after i had reversed and maneuvered I wound my window down to get out of the barrier when I pulled away i noticed my tire sounded flat, got out and on inspection it was. Completely flat and resting on the rim.

Car is under warranty naturally so rang to check if was anything needed to do, ie specialist dealer, there wasnt so i fitted the spare and drove it to my nearest KwikFIt. They jacked it up etc and took a look, said that tracking was out and both front tires were nackered, the inside shoulders were worn away. then when he took the flat tire off it had clearly been punctured in the past but had just been repaired on the inside of the shoulder which im advised shouldnt be done. I got the two front tires replaced and the tracking done with KwikFit, when doing this they also advised my brake discs were extremely low so will probably only last a week or so.

Now with the above in mind, would you reasonably expect that i should be able to approach the dealership and ask for compensation? They are due to call me at 9:30 tomorrow to discuss and I am extremely aggreived with the situation and if don't get the outcome i expect considering returning my car under the sale of goods act!

Sounds like you know what you want Adam. Have Kwikfit provided you with a written report listing the defects? If they have, great. If not, in effect you have no evidence other than you're not happy.

The tyre repair. Their answer could be it happened since you drove it off the forecourt. You need that Kwikfit report.
The brake discs. Hopefully you have the pick up mileage detailed in the sales Doc, and the current mileage won't be much more than that. That should nail them for that.

Might be worth PM-ing Smiffy.

If they won't play ball, you might have a problem. Not sure on the law for something as expensive as a car. They might only have offer a repair. Be careful on that. Once you've accepted a car back repaired, it gets

Cheers Bri,

Yeh got the KwikFit report and got them to write down the details from the tracking etc. Even got the two tires in my boot!!!

The mileage should only be a few hundred at most and have all them details etc.

Still well protected as a consumer, just if garage want to be tw@ts then they can make life difficult.

If they are reputable they will want to protect their name, hold hands up to not picking up issue with tyres and hopefully come to an agreement.

Brake discs will depend on if above legal requirements but with kwik fit saying only a week left they probably wouldn't be. Not nice, spoils what should be a fun / expensive purchase. Let us know how you get on.

Did you check the car before buying it, or just do a visual inspection?

Firstly the dealer has committed an offence if they sold the car in an unroadworthy condition;

http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1988/52/section/75

However if you are looking at getting your money back then you will need an independent engineer's report rather than Kwik Fit, who couldn't possibly know that your brake discs have only got a week left. A decent engineer will tell you what thickness is left & what the minimum is according to the manufacturer's spec. There's also many other causes of wear to tyres; incorrect steering geometry other than tracking, incorrect tyre pressures (too low) are the first to spring to mind. Were the blocks smooth or was there feathering, because I would expect feathering if it was tracking

http://www.ehow.co.uk/facts_7655835_feathered-tires-mean.html

Please pardon the cynicism but Kwik Fit have told you that the tracking, tyres and brakes are knackered, all things that Kwik Fit can (and have) fixed. You may even have done your own legs to some degree by having the defects fixed. I'd have a read of this

http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/wales...you_bought_e/the_car_you_bought_is_faulty.htm

and see what you want to do after that.
