New car - Need new golf trolly

Hi all

Just nabbed myself an A3 Sportback and am pretty confident that my old Clicgear 2.0 will be slightly to big for the boot, when sat next to my Cobra Trolley bag

What is the smallest folding push trolley available?

I have heard the Clicgear 3.5 is pretty good, but wanted to hear your opinions

The current issue of GM has a trolley test in it and our testing included a boot test. Smallest of the push models was the Motocaddy M1 Lite (RRP £149) and the Big Max IQ+ (£199.99).

I think you'll need to forget the clicgear 3.5. I have one, and it is a great trolley, but it is not small.
I manage with a fiat panda 100hp though, so I think you're making a bit of a meal of this. Methinks you just wanted a new trolley anyway...

we was looking to swap my 09 plate Mondeo for a new A5 hatchback a few months a go. But we were unable to get both bags and two trollies in the boot of it, something I can do quite easy in my Mondeo. Really gutted as I had set my heart on it :( However even though my Ford is not as fun as the Audi its still a good car and ideal for a golfing couple!

Couldn't lay a bag or two on the backseat?

Not buying a car because your golf bag won't fit in the boot is ridiculous in my opinion. I can fit 2 people, 2 bags and 2 trolleys in a new 2 door fiesta. My pal even drives with his golf bag strapped in the passenger seat of his mx5, with the roof rolled down! If worst comes to worst just get a locker?

Cheers Jake

Bit put of by the small wheel base of the Motocaddy. PP of mine had one and it was constantly blowing over (with the brolly attached) in fairly mild wind.

My Clicgear 2.0 was unfazed.

Still i guess its just the compromise you make when looking for "compact"

I had an ST220 a few years back.

Your not wrong about the boot size. Absolutely mahoosive. Far bigger than that of the E60 5 series, in a smaller class of car.

Swallowed all my gear no problems.

Still miss that car, it was a cracker.

Was viewing a 14 plate A6 saloon on the weekend and i did comment that the boot was small in appearance. The 4 series has a decent boot for its class i think.

Similar to the A5, if you dont mind RWD

my company car was a Kia c'eed which is around the same size as a a3, I can get my steward z3 push trolley, Nike performance cart bag and Nike overnight bag in the boot snugly , you just have to take the driver and 3 wood out and lay them across the top.

I will wait until the car arrives before making a judgment but.........

I could get a new trolley out of this!

Opportunity knocks for buying yet more gear:)

And have absolutely no recourse through insurance if I get all my gear nicked because I left it in plain view? No thanks.

Bearing in mind that the primary reason I have for owning a car outside of commuting is to travel to & from golf courses, what is so ridiculous about buying a car that comfortably takes my golf gear?

If worst comes to worst just get a locker?

What, at every club I visit? Or never play anywhere but my home club?

Like ya style.

I'm just changing jobs and my new car is either a 320d, a4 or insignia. My gut feeling is although the bmw/Audi are better cars, the boot on the insignia is a golfers dream. Coming from a 52 reg mondeo which I could fit three bags in as well as a motocaddy, I miss a big boot,

i really don't want to spend 20k on a car knowing that it was not right for us! I also don't like leaving items on show either! Going to wait until new mondeo comes out later this year! :)

St220 now that's a motor! Bet you was gutted to see it go :(

I'll bite.

Take your clubs out when not at the course? I always take mine out to replenish supplies and give the clubs a clean, especially in this weather. Theres no excuse for dirty clubs at the first tee, or a smelly car. It doesn't matter if it's in plain view or not, if it gets nicked you have no recourse anyway.

Any car will comfortably take golf gear. As previously stated, I have one friend with an mx5 and one with a Ferrari 458 (lucky bugger). they can both transport themselves to our golf days, and believe it or not they arrive with clubs and trolleys! I admit they can't take passengers, but even my tiny fiesta can fit 2 people in there golf gear in (can do three people but then the rear view is obstructed)

What, at every club I visit? Or never play anywhere but my home club?

See point above about removing clubs from car when not in use.

My point is it's much easier/cheaper to not be lazy and bring your clubs with you when your not travelling to and from a golf club. Or even buy a slimline trolley or bag (as the main point of this thread). Than buy a new/different car that you can keep it all in (the way this thread has turned out)
