New car confusion - any experts sales folk out there?

TB - cheers, the 2 years extra warranty on the Kia is appealing though! I also have no style so neither would hurt my image:whoo:.

Nowt to do with cars and a thread on the evolution of language would be as dry as dust so i'll hide it here. The word ignorant is not 'misunderstood' to be an insult. It is now more commonly used 'as' an insult and is understood to be so by a majority of the population. Being branded ignorant (with no specific clause) will be interpreted as an insult in the majority of people. Language and it's use changes over time - anyone feeling gay today?;)

How about substituting "ignorant" for "blissfully unaware"?

I had a Skoda Estelle back in the 80's. Crude but effective. The only street cred it had was winning its class on the rallying championships for a number of years. Put up with the jokes for several years.

What do you call a Skoda Convertible? A skip
Why do Skodas have heated rear windows? To keep your hands warm when you are pushing them.

Eventually I could put up with the ridicule no more and got a Vauxhall Cavalier.

Over 20 years on and the Skoda is a completely different beast. Wouldn't hesitate to consider one when my current car expires.

I took What Car's advice myself and went for a Ford Focus. My 2nd choice was the Skoda Octavia, loads of car for the money, but a little dated to look at.

Talking from Experience of both Skoda and Kia. My Mrs has just picked up the Cee'd 4 Diesel as a company motor, and I have the Octavia L&K Estate 2.0D.

The ride in the Kia is very firm and the trim is quite plasticy. It also seems to use much more juice than the skoda, and with a smaller engine and she does more motorway miles than me.

In the Skoda, great ride, masses of sapce, leg room and tidy trim. I'm averaging over 60mpg, thats 50 miles on the motorway a day then another 50 - 80 in work around town each day. I always have my golf gear and trolley in the boot.

Hard to compare really as both different markets I think, but if you could get her in the skoda or even fabia they are fantastic cars. FIL has had 2 Octavia and is now on his 2nd Superb.

Takek her for a spin in one she change her mind.

I've got a 1.6 petrol ceed and it's doing 41.6 mpg!

P.s.go Kia, you'll get mahoosive spec and that warranty compared to poverty spec and a vw/ford/Honda badge (delete as appropriate)

I work for a dealer group in Sussex. We have the Nissan, Toyota, Hyundai, Fiat and Vauxhall franchises. I sell Nissan.
The one range that impresses out of the lot?..................... Hyundai.
They now have a great range of cars. Ten years ago, I wouldn't have given you tuppence for one.
Now? I'd buy one tomorrow if I had to buy a new car.
Great value for money as their initial depreciation is higher than other makes, but they tend to bottom out after 3 or 4 years. And mechanically they are bullet proof.
Buy a demonstrator or a one or two year old one for the savings you will make, and feel confident that you are going to get many, many years of reliable motoring out of it.
Hyundai (as a company) are out to get Toyota. And the Japs are now very, very worried about them.

offered to buy my wife a new car because she hated her clio (new in 09), she was adament she wouldn't have a skoda. Managed to get a test drive in a Fabia Monte Carlo and she got me signing that day, she will tell you herself, it's the best car she has owned. On a drive to her parents 54 mile away we average between 57 and 63 mpg, not bad for a 1.6 tdi 105bhp

Think I may need to test drive the skoda, kia and have another go in the Mazda. It's still the fact that I should have about 3 years left on a hyundai warranty that is swinging me, I can't really afford for much to go wrong with the other makes in the near future.

Full manufacturer/dealer warranties are hard to beat. Be it Skoda or Hyundai, I dont think you can go wrong.
(BTW, Do you have a Slighter putter? I have been on his site before, they look fantastic)

I do indeed have a slighter putter - it's a custom handmade Redmond restyled to be like an odyssey #9. Fantastic putter but currently having an affair with a #7 fang thing - seems to be working but if it ever mis behaves the Slighter will be back - infact the slighter might be back anyway!! They have better balance and feel than a Scotty (OTR anyway) and the ability to get exactly what you want is great:)

If you dont mind me asking, is his prices comparable to Scotty or less expensive? Some of the gallery pics look great and think if I could ever be persuaded away from my 2ball, it could be one of his.
