Ok decided to treat myself to a new big stick and although aware it becomes a subjective decision just wanted to see if anyone had any ideas/suggestions to throw in the pot.

Currently have the 2009 Nike sq dymo - It's ok and has been fairly faithful but looking to pick up a bit more distance and hoping a step up might give me that.

Went to AG last night and swing speed was measured - averaged about 93. They were pushing the Nicklaus driver (£129 new) at me (think they sell it exclusively) and it did feel ok but not that massive difference I was looking for from my Nike driver.

Looking to spend around £100- £120 so maybe a second hander is the way to go.

Any thoughts, pointers or wisdom to share?

Not going to advise what to get. Thats more a case of what suits you. But there should be plenty of last years models about around that price. As for the Nicklaus driver no comment!

I've just had a quick look at online golf.

Taylormade burner superfast £129, MRRP £239
Mizuno golf MP-630 £99.99 MRRP £199.99

Both good buys, you would not go far wrong with the taylormade. Really good club, at that price.

GreiginFife - They are and I did and I was hoping it would work but it performed the worst out of the 3 I had - my current one, the Nicklaus and that one.

Only a dozen or so shots so very hard to say for certain but it was kind of moved away as a "That's not for you" option after the initial testing.

Just wondered, couldn't say myself as never used one, was only going by comments on here. I'm a Mizuno man myself and had a MP630 which I believe they stock with the Axivcore 69 shaft (as I think you would maybe be looking at a regular flex), it's a very good driver, I only got rid of it as I got a Fast Track version from a fellow forumer. The MP630 would be in your price bracket.

Dave M - cheers - bidding on a Burner Superfast on Ebay now.

GreiginFife - the Mizuno does look nice. Well cheap on ebay! Is it an older club?

I would avoid the Nicklaus driver. I went into AG braintree looking at getting a new Mizuno JPX800 3 wood but after hitting it they said it was no good for my game and made me hit the Nicklaus as it was drawn bias.

Worked fine in the store but have never been able to hit it since always hooks.

I have spoken to other people about this and they say that they make more margin on these clubs so are pushing them heavily even if they don't help your game.

Yep that's exactly what they do. The sales rep told me they were selling them exclusively. It actually felt ok but not good enough to justify swapping to it.

Think it's a clear battle between the Mizuno 630 and the TM Superburner now.

Try a second hand Taylormade r9 super tri, I'm still using mine and it always feels great to hit plus it got rave reviews when it was released also but is this just me or is the rbz and feel exactly the same as the r9 ???

Oh and I've seen them for around £90

Yeah they look good and all round excellent reviews.

On the case on Ebay too. Trying to decide regular shaft or stiff.

Good prices on this one on Ebay and average at £120 on Golfbidder.

Thank you.
