Taking the sticks so if it is crap I may be able to sneak in a game.
There are 90 exhibitors, was there that many last year Graham?

Hi Vig
The numder of exhibitors was about the same but quite a few were selling time shares. I did go to buy a new golf bag but not much choice so came home empty handed, any way hope you have a good day

I'm gonna go and check it out with a couple of mates. If it's rubbish i'll make the short journey to New St & go to the pub. (Why waste a day off?)

Went today, bit of a waste of time if i'm honest.

Unless you're going with the intention of being custom fitted with a new set of clubs it really isn't worth the effort.

Walked in & within 20 seconds i've got some fella on my case with some timeshare bull****. Go away.

Had a wander round & there really isn't that much going on apart from the indoor driving range/custom fitting area. Had a go on a hole-in-one simulation machine, knocked it 30 yards past a 130 yard par 3 with a 9 iron.(He told me there was no wind. Hmmm) They didn't have a wedge so my other 2 shots ended up short. Fancied that break in Portugal, too.

When we went to have a crack at the long drive comp,we were told,"sorry,we need to make some adjustments". People had been missing the net,5 yards infront of them & the ball had been ricocheting around the roof. Apparently they ignored it until a ball hit someone,30 yards away, who was watching something on the stage.

£7.50 instead of £15.00 (thanks to GM) to get in & £15.99 for a dozen Z-URC were the best things about the day. Won't be going again.

Played today instead of going to the NEC. On reflection may not have been the best choice given the cold wind and my inability to chip or hit a PW. Out tomorrow in a society on a very open and flat track and not looking forward to freezing my bits off with some twice a year hackers.

The NEC is always full of time share hoodlums. Last time I went I was accosted as I walked in and politely declined. After the 4th rep hassled me and I hadn't got 30 yards inside the building my patience snapped and I told him to go away with short jerky movements (or something similar).

Apart from the displays (range, putting etc) and the stage show which can be good at times it is basically a glorified American Golf store. I'd rather get a gig with GM to the next big trade show

You know what Yidio, I think you were unlucky. As you know I went today (we should of met up) and I met Vig there.

I had a good day, wasn't approached once by any timeshare sellers (I must look poor). Me and Dave were approached within minutes of walking in but by a company called Bespoke Golf asking us if we wanted to try a 78* wedge, YES 78* :D That was some fun. Clown here even managed to hit it so high it went through the saftey ney guarding the lights and the ball stuck on top. Vig went one better and done it with a driver :D

I also got a freeby of this company which was a strange grip that was fatter at the bottom than the top, designed to help slicers turn over easily. Tried it on a titleist driver and it was wierd but it did help. He gave me one for my old man, even though they only had a few with them.

Got to hit a load of clubs today, Nikes new irons, Yonex, Various putters and to top it off, as we were testing the snake eye wedges, the guy said they had some on the stand for 25 quid each special price for the show. rrp £89 and they were going for 25 each. They are really good wedges and for that price, I just had to take a 47 and 56 even though I dont need them. They also had drivers for £60 and utility's for £25. BARGAIN.

Trick shot show was really good and we also watched a few celebs playing shankety shank.

Entered loads of comps so will see if anythin comes of them. All in all, a good trip, no complaints from me.

Only downside for me was the 2.45 drive home, jam after jam. M42, M1, M18, A1

That 78* wedge was something else, if you couldn't play with it you could use it to eat you soup. And in my defence the tee was waaaay too high, I did tell the bloke before I hit it, just glad there was no one watching

Got myself a Zen oracle for practice over the winter.
Those snake eye wedges looked really good and an offer we just couldn't refuse.
I think i've made my mind up on a gps and it will be a sonocaddie V300.

Tony has also got a pic of a new device to replace the two strap system for carry bags. It was impressive and so easy to use, out in the new year.

Didn't get bothered by timeshare or property people but made an observation that none of these stands were manned by hairy arsed blokes. :p

Also saw some competition for the explanar made by a plumber :D you really needed to see it.

Hit a few brands that I wouldn't normally and the trick shots were impressive. I took some video but not sure how to upload it

I couldn't find my voucher so paid full whack and £8 to park

Went today, if you want to buy a load of tat or a £2500 trolley then fill your boots......timeshares didn't bother me either but the free bag from some Irish Bank did.....loads of bays to try clubs if you want to queue for a little and the long drive was 'being altered' also when I was there....parking is £8 too......couple of good looking birds though....

Tony,Vig...glad you missed the timeshare idiots, they were directly infront of you as you walk in. Perhaps you went a different way... What time was the trick show on? I had had enough by 1.30.

That's a quality deal on the Snake eyes wedges, would've had 1 myself if i had come across them. Weren't on the corner by the Taylormade truck were they?

Anyone have a go on the long putt? Didn't see anyone get it within 10 feet.
