N.E vs N.W

Gents

A big thanks to you all for a super days golf. It was a marvelous introduction to a forum outing and I can't wait for the next one.

Weather was great, course was great, greens were super and the company was top notch.

Vig it was a pleasure to meet you, you were a fine host and nearly as accurate with your course advise and yardage as my GPS!

Diolch yn fawr...... (Thanks very much).

Can I also say thanks to everyone for a great day. Top company from vig the gogg and toonarmy (who had possibly the unluckiest round I have seen).

Looking forward to the next one

Obviously, by the time of the post, the sleepless nights haven't stopped.

Can I firstly thank everyone who attended for making the effort on what was, after all, fathers day.

I have to admit that the last week has caused me no end of anxiety with changes to numbers and meal plans. This also continued up to and including the day.
After a little bit of shuffling I managed to accomodate everyone although 3 balls in this format are not ideal. Sorry for the groups that had to do that.

Would I organise another after all that stress? After 12.30 I have to say that it was almost perfect. So absolutely.
My knees were shaking on the first tee but I just expelled all the nervous energy that had built up and fired an almost perfect drive away.

Congratulations to the individual winners who were
Nearest the pin's
GrumpyJock
Andrew (tincup's Bro)
Duncan (fore's mate)

Longest drive
Richard

Indiv Stableford
Tony N

I will pass on my thanks to Chris the "greeno" for getting the course in such good nick for the day.
He has been asking me on almost every ocassion he has seen me if there was anything else that I wanted.

The meal lived up to it's expectations and was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone I think.

I would like to thank the other 3 in my 4 ball for a superb afternoon and great company.
Alex (Toon), I feel for you mate. I have been there, many times.
I have never witnessed anyone gets so many bad breaks in a round.
From the best drive of the 4 on the 11th and being "stymied" (sp) behind the tree. Did hit a cracking "cut" that came short on the approach.
The approach to 8th that pitched on the fringe to take a kick left and an unplayable, not the first or last of the day.
I hope it didn't spoil your day.
We'll have to arrange a knock, locally some time.

Gogg who was consistent from first to last. He told me, on the 12th fairway he was "all the gear, no idea" Don't you believe it. I would be happy to partner you in a 4 ball anytime.

GB72, What can I say, from the first drive I thought we were in trouble. The net eagle on the 2nd just underlined it. Well played mate. Top bloke

Thank you Century for the kind donation of the scotch which, I acquired by default by the first recipitant declining the award and then KeefG "passing" it on after he won it for 2nd place indiv.
Also Bill, I would have been happy to have played with or against you, despite you wearing tailored shorts.(with the weather, I wish I put mine on) I did have a look to see if you also had a chipper ;)

Can I also express my thanks to Graham & Tony for looking out for my son.
He had a superb day and never stopped talking about it all night. (I think we may have another convert) This in itself made it a fathers day to remember.

Finally can I give an open invitation to all, that if you fancy a knock around the track again, whenever it may be. I will be happy to accomodate you.

Big round of applause to everyone.

Going for a knock in a couple of hours.

If each group can send a short review of their groups round to keefG or myself. We will put them together and submit them as one.

Homer, as there aren't any meets organised for July yet. Would you not be better covering the "longest day" and giving it a good plug as it was for charity. And the mini Scottish meet in this coming months mag & leaving the NE vs NW meet for the next one? i'm not sure we could do it justice without getting everyone's match reviews in.

Big thanks to you Dave and my playing partners Wildrover, Njd and Richard3879 for a top day, I really enjoyed it.

P.S. I was witness to Richards longest drive and it really was an awesome 3 wood strike.

P.S. I was witness to Richards longest drive and it really was an awesome 3 wood strike.

It was ok I suppose ;)

We were the group in front on the green and we saw someone tee off whilst we were putting out, then I noticed Rich waiting for ages and I thought "whats he waiting for, he wont reach us, I bet he tops it 50yds lol"

We then walk off the green and no sooner we have his ball comes booming past us, takes 2 bounces and rolls all the way up the green and stops about 12 inches short of the fringe....to say I was a tad shocked would be an under statement! :D

What are you doing having the longest drive on a per 3?

:D :D :D :p

Full honours list:

Longest drive:
Richard3879

Erm, Keef... 3879 what? yards or meters?

:D

LOL

That's his log on!

I believe that Richard's drive reached the back of the green. About 297yds.... with a 3 wood!!!!!.

I will measure it with the GPS today.
SShhh, dont tell any one, but he told me it was his opening 4 holes score :o :D :D :D Couldn't hold the green tho' :p

Huge thanks to vig (and Keef) for doing all the hard yards in sorting this out. Despite clearly having run over a dozen black cats en route, I had a great day out.

The course was in fine fettle, the weather was as good as you could wish for and the company of strangers was as good as old friends. Top notch carvery too. All in all, great day at a great club. Vig, please pass on my thanks to the staff at the club.

My only regret of the day is 'doing an All Blacks'. Last week I shoot my best ever score, this week in front of the cameras I shoot my worst in over a year! Whilst I didn't play well, I've never had so many bad breaks in 18 holes before. How vig carried the team for so long is anyone's guess!

Special thanks to thegogg, GB72 and vig for making my torture substantially more enjoyable than it otherwise would have been.

There's always another day...

I feel sorry for whoever plays you next as you are due a massive run of luck. Poor person will stand no chance.

Well done Dave for organizing a great day, shame some people let you down at the last minute and could not be bother to contact you that they could not make it.
Anyway great win for the NE Team and to all the individual winners well played to Tony, cracking score mate.

Well done Vig and Keef!

Great day despite playing like an idiot (must learn 15 yards behind a tree to an elevated green standing in the rough is not a hybrid situation).

Looking forward to the next one!

keef you forgot me on the honours list, i finished last and even gave up the bottle of whiskey. i blame my hayfeaver. Had a good day even tho the second nine didnt go to plan, and thanks to phil and matt who made the day more enjoyable!! look forward to seein everyone again.

Posting this late after the event there is very little left to say apart from echoing the sentiments of everyone else to Vig and Keef for putting in a good shift to get this organised.

Many thanks also to my playing partners for making the day as fun as it can be on the losing side. Tincup, please pass on my regards to your brother.
