Evening all,
I actually managed to play today....Thank God
Anyway i thought that id give a little insight into my adventures with my new G15 Hybrid(swollen thumb) as its been cleverly described in other areas on the net :D :D :D

Anyhoooo...For my first outing with this weapon i have to say that it had me grinning from ear to ear after every swing of it.....This thing is unbelievably easy to hit from practically any lie.....

I was a bit apprehensive about it at the start as its got more of a driving iron look about it than most of the modern hybrid/fairway wood looking rescues.

I hit it on a good few occasions this morning from various lie's throughout the round and for my 2nd shot on the par 5's and after a few errant tee shots......

To look down on it looks very clumsy and odd looking and has a good deal of offset, something that better players may shy away from but id urge anyone that struggles with long irons to put this on there list of clubs to try for 2011....It wont disappoint you..There are even a no. of Ping Tour Staff using them if memory serves me right....

Like most club players im suspect to a few different types of ball flight over the course of a round but my usual shot would be a fade thats what id always play for....Im usually aiming at the left edge of the fairway...But this thing just wants to go straight....I found it very hard to play for my normal shot with it that just takes a little adjusting for but ill take that all day with the outcome...

The club i have is 20 degrees which is a 3 iron replacement and if fit perfectly between my 4 iron and my 5 wood distances...

One thing that i did love about this club and im comparing it to my old baffler here is the ball flight...Where alot of hybrids climb the minute that the ball leaves the club this thing starts out low but climbs steadily and lands like something strapped to a parachute....
And it didnt loose distance in the wind either....Because of the height just after impact it was like hitting a knockdown shot with a long iron except that i was putting a normal swing on it....

20 degree's is probably as high as id go with these as i like my 4 and 5 irons and find them easy to hit....but if someone is struggling with maybe say there 5 wood and a 3 iron in there set id give a 17 and 20 deg a squeeze and they wont disappoint...

Im off again in the morning in my own course so it'll get another run out tomorrow but im now sold on hybrids...Finding the right one really does give you alot of confidence.......

Sorry for the essay but i had to do the club justice. :p

Glad to hear it went well Kid,but boy is the G15 hybrid ugly !
What ever you do don't lose its head cover. :D

I have to agree with you 100% Rich....But its stupid easy to hit and it works....It just takes a little getting used to i suppose.... ;)

I have one of these beasts and it definately works.

Mine is a 23 degree and I think it may be a little high.
Might get a 17 and ditch the 4 iron

Fragger

kid2 - u no like the i15? i wen for that one and i love it so much prettier i think!

Golfstick its a nice club but when i was fitted i was getting more distance and a better flight from the G15...
May have been a shaft issue but the stock stiff shaft in th G15 was giving me better results....
I was hitting the i15 just a little less consistent so i went for the forgivness in the end.
I also bought the G15 3 Wood and i was Bombing this today...
I found it a good 15 yards longer than my old Cobra S2 but again going from Reg flex in the Cobra to a Stiff in the Ping is probably the difference.

thats fair play, go for what is best. As u previously stated the offset was a little off putting for me, didnt fit my eye kept visualising big hooks!"

Nice nice mate, thanks for the write up. I have never read a bad word about this club apart from its looks and everything I have read says you get over them pretty fast.

I still love my TM burner hybrids but I do worry a little now I have been fitted for stiff iron shafts that I should have stiff wood shafts but whatever for now. I get my new irons in the morning :D :D :D :D :D :D

As soon as I walk out of the fitters!

Good write up. I still tend to ignore my hybrid when weighing up a shot. The possibilities just don't enter my head. Mind you I did use it once today - off a swampy fairway 190 yards pin high to the edge of the green. Perhaps I will force myself to use it tomorrow come what may.

Hi Kid I've got the same combo at the top end. G15 clubs are awesome. Hybrid may be ugly but it most definitely works. Dragged I've got the 17 degree and it's lovely.

I might chance swapping my 18deg wilson 5 wood for the 17 deg G15 hybrid Tiger....
Im gonna get hold of one and see whats the difference in distance between them.
