so had 18 last night and 9 tonight and a bit of a range session... not good at all!

knobbed it around in 45 front 9 last night thanks to a few 1 putts after cocking it up all the way to the green and chipping was decent also. Back 9 similar, around 90 ish for 18 (par 69 so over h/c)

tonight I was going to play 18 but due to working a bit later only had time for 9, shocking is all I can say.

got the Volvo pairs Sunday @ 4pm and to say I am not looking forward to it is an understatement. What would you do? Forget about it and just put it down to one of them things? Hit the range tomorrow and see if it can be 'worked out'?

arrrrrghhhhh, not good lol

(Sorry Gary btw, not what you want to hear before our match)

Just put it down to one of those days fella.

After all if you nailed every stroke and sank every putt you'd be on tour

Even the pro's have their bad days.

am very deflated as after a lesson 3 weeks ago my game was really coming together. Not played proper for a couple of weeks due to work and being ill (a bloody gain), maybe I was just trying to hard. This game loves biting you in the ass when you feel like your getting somewhere

I wouldn't worry. If what I did tonight was suppose to be preparation for the club championships tomorrow then it was mediocre at best and distrubing at the low points. Nothing I can do now but turn up and try my best. I'm not holding my breath to make the cut

You play off 21, had a shocker and still scored around the 90 mark. I'd take that as a good sign.....

going thru similar, easy to say but just go out and enjoy, this damn game ,as we all know is full of ups and downs just don't expect anything and see wot happens

Steve, don't panic and everything will fall into place. I've been all over the place this week yet today i managed 6 pars and a birdie in an otherwise poor round. 35 points off 16hc putting was poor and my chipping has been better

I guess I am panicking as last time out I was shocking off the tee, luckily Gary played decent and I managed to win/halve a few holes. had a lesson a few weeks ago to sort the tee shot issue (hip turn biggest issue and staying on the back foot), have been hitting them sweet as but the last week its gone to rat droppings.

Ahh well, what will be will be :)

Gibbo just relax. I had the same thing, over thinking. So decided to just go play with no swing thoughts none at all just swing and enjoy. Guess what. Played great. So just relax its just one of those things.

Feel for you bud.

I went out for 10 holes after dinner. Terrible off the tee. Thankfully the course was quiet.

I'm eager to get back out to try and remedy this.

It always helps me to remember that even pros can have 10 shot swings round to round on the same course.

Personally, I'd still go to range but I'd try not to put too much pressure on myself and just work on balanced, smooth swings with good rhythm.Your mojo can reappear just as quickly as it disappeared.

^^This - saved me typing it!

Deep breaths, go to the range and have a swing thought like "smooth" or "rhythm" or similar. The more anxious I get the quicker I get especially at the transition so just slowing down a tad usually works. Good luck.

You said that after your lesson you played great, but lack of opportunity to bed the learnt stuff into your swing....due to work/illness. Would you consider another lesson?

I would do nothing, chillax until Sunday and have a few beers forget about swing this or that and just go out and enjoy sunday instead of analyzing everything. Who knows it might all just click into place at the right time.

Played Kingsbarns yesterday.
Went to their range and literally hit shanks/duffs/thins/tops, was close to not playing.

Stood on first tee and thought just swing instinctively, clear the clutter.
Played well, hit everything well, scored well.

Moral, stop analysing too much, set up, point and shoot and have fun.
