One of my friends had hypnotherapy and lit up on the way home :) It'll work for you if you are already 99% determined that you want to stop, if not it won't.

I stopped for 7 months on 4mg nicotine lozenges which was my first time away from the weed in 25yrs.

Best way to stop is to WANT TO STOP then put them down and don't pick them up again.

Check the following forum out.

Lot's of support there, links to great information and a lot of Champix diary threads too that will let you know what to expect.

I'm 1 year off the smokes on the 1st of march having stopped cold turkey.

The app on my phone tells me I have saved £3029.88 so far.

my ex worked on the transplant unit at Papworth for a lot of years.
It wasn't just relatives that complained about not being allowed to smoke on the wards but also some of the patients - 24-hours after a heart-lung transplant!

I quit 2 months ago using Champix but don't expect to be a bundle of laughs for a while! Because the pills block the brain's pleasure receptors (to spoil your enjoyment of fagging it), they pretty much block all pleasure (and I do mean all). I'd suggest not to run through the whole 12 weeks of pills unless you're really likely to have a fag (you only keep taking them in case you 'slip').

Otherwise - good for you, I've already bought a set of Mizuno's on my savings and will be playing in Spain later this year on the strength of not smoking!
Best of luck

Be clear on why you want to stop and just want it badly enough. It's not that hard after about a week to 10 days but never be tempted to "just have the one" or you will fail.

It amazes me how many people continue to be in denial about smoking and the harm it does. You can have everything in the world but without your health it is worth nothing. Yes, there are no guarantees but playing the percentages makes more sense than sticking your head in the sand and just hoping all will be OK.

Good luck pal, stick at it.

Good luck with your quest.

I'll just say this:

The ONLY way to succeed in giving up, is, you must WANT to stop 100%! No point in trying otherwise. :(
