...... And I'm hitting it close now to boot :)

Decided, whatever the weather, I was going to go for 9 holes after work tonight.

Played steady for all 9 holes and only really had a mare on 1 hole (6 on our par 4, 6th) and even that only had 1 putt.

1st - 2 putts
2nd - 2 putts
3rd - 1 putt
4th - 1 putt
5th - 1 putt
6th - 1 putt
7th - 2 putt
8th - 2 putt
9th - 2 putt

14 putts total for 9 holes. Shot 4 over par with 1 birdie, 4 pars, 3 bogies and 1 double :)

The string of 1 putts was a combination of mid iron approach play going close and getting up and down when I missed greens.

The only thing I've changed in my putting is I have an improved feeling within my stroke and a better understanding of my stroke, thanks the Bob's V-Easy.

Is this now the norm' for me as regards my putting???

Boy I hope so

I am just quite happy to be plaqying in comps and getting cuts ;) Another 40 points today playing in a stroke tomorrow. Put your putting to the real test ;)

Totally agree Chris. I won the monthly stableford last weekend with 39 points and 29 putts.

I'm just happy to be putting as well as I am Chris, be it a comp or a casual knock after work

I swapped putters to my odyssey #9 and found something to inspire confidence. I think if you are thinking you can make putts you will. If you can use Bob's magic toy and groove a reliable stroke and can knock it close then of course you will start to make a few and the stats will look good. Keep it going

That's the challenge isn't it Homer... Keeping it going!!

I envy you Gareth! Up until last weekend my putting had been coming on quite nicely, however in the Club Champs it all went horribly wrong. My putts went 2,3,4,3 in the first 4 holes...followed by more 3 putts than I can count over the remaining 32 holes! I've not been out since due to the weather but I'm praying it was one of those days. Hope you keep it going fella - sounds like you're making some good progress.

Nice one Gareth hope it keeps goin for you! Makes such a difference when you feel confident with a putter in your hand.

I'd say watch out for the bad putting performance round. You're really confident at the moment just be careful one bad round doesn't shake that confidence and send your stats in the wrong direction. I seem to be turning into a streaky putter and this seems to happen to me. If only I could turn my brain off when I play this game!!

Anyway congratulations and congrats bob who surely has sold a few v easy's on the back of your stats. Surely some commission is due?! :)

Another thing someone recently told me to do during a "streak" was to write down thoughts about what I was doing before and during the stroke. Mechanics and feel and I was told be as precise as possible.

If I can be disciplined I'm going to try and do this for all clubs. Hopefully it'll help me to find "it" again after I lose it. Hopefully the streaks will be longer and the days when I look like I've never played the game before become less frequent.

Once you have done the work to groove a decent stroke, all you have to do is work on the strike and distance control. Ensure the ball rolls 'end over end' and dosnt jump in the air. Practice putts of various lengths breaks. Do some short putting with your pre shot routine to build confidence.

Theres no reason then why it shoudnt continue.

I have heard this also.

My problem in this instance is I don't have any thoughts

Well, actually just one thought. I think "Wait" at the end of my back swing/stroke. It helps me set a nice tempo and smoothes my rhythm for my stroke into the ball rather than snatching into the down/through stroke.

That being said, this is my only swing thought on all my shots, regardless of club.

It was a tip someone on here gave, I forget who  (Darth, I think?), but whoever it was .......... Thanks

Nice one!

Like you, my putter is hot at present. The last two Saturday's read 23 & 24 putts respectively. Sadly, its indicative of how many greens I'm missing as the points scored is 32 & 36.

Interesting and worth a try lol tell me more.

Do you actually pause at the end of your backswing or is it more of a thought. I do something kind of similar when I pick up the driver but it's more a case of making the body rotation wait rather than anything else.

The idea is to "wait" until I complete my backswing/stroke.

One of the things that has held me back in most areas of my game has been starting my downswing before I've finished my backswing swith a snatch .

When I tell myself to wait until I'm at the top/end of the backstroke/swing I find I get a much smoother transition into the downswing/stroke and, as a result, make a better stroke or shot.

I don't acutally stop at the top, it's just a reminder to let my backswing complete.
