Guys I’d love all of your feedback and thoughts to help me achieve my goal of getting to scratch! I’ve set up an Instagram where you can join me in my journey - @anavidgolfer - I’d love to have you all join me!!

I didn’t realise I was on Michael Parkinson’s This is your life ?

All very relevant questions asked by a PGA pro who knows a thing or two about the game.

Its been done to death on here and I don't think anyone has got close to scratch yet as it all seems to go quiet on progress very quickly.

How old are you
What's your h/cap
How often do you play/practice
Can you afford lessons
Are you married/kids
On a more serious note..
I’m 31 years old
Handicap is 10.4
Play/practice 3-4 times per week
Have always been able to afford lesson
Not married and no kids

I would say just keep doing what you are doing.
Set small targets like.....
Try and break 75
Try and keep a 6 off your card
Have no 3 putts in a round
Then work on your weaknesses....
driving, pitching, putting etc
Most of all, you MUST enjoy practicing because you will be doing lots of it, just to get to cat I never mind scratch.
It's not impossible but if it stops being fun, forget it.
Good luck.
Ps It was Michael Aspel who did This is your life.

Thank you so much - I’ll definitely take note of all of the above and will work on each and every element. As you say, I need to make sure I’m always enjoying the practicing as well as the playing as I don’t want to stop enjoying the game I love! Bloody Michael Aspell, of course it was!! ?‍♂️

If you're not off 5 or lower within a few years of playing you won't get to scratch, ever.

Life, work, family etc get in the way. Talent outstrips hard work at golf unless you're spending 6-7 days a week playing.

I will. I’ve hit level par 4 times before and have been mid to high 70s a number of times over the last few years without the time to practice. I now have that time available. So I’ll definitely get there. But thanks!
