My first eagle :) Par 5 6th @ merristwood

not renewing as i need the money for the house work.. its a shame because it is a good course and I like it.. but golf is going to be on a slow burn for the next 12 months or so...

Thats a shame, the course is slowly getting better, was a real pain early april when it was boggy but its getting better by the day now.

You planning to play this weekend.. might sync times. I usually play with 2 of my mates, so we can 4 ball if they are coming over

Well done on the Eagle. I was a member at Merrist Wood but left 8-9 years ago. Fond memories of the course with some good holes. What sort of condition is the course in these days ?

I dont think Im best placed to comment as Ive only been a member for a couple of months. The course is drying out nicely and they appear to be cutting greens and tees every day or at least every other day.

Some of the greens are a bit bobbly and the 12th green suffered some abuse over the winter I think as its laden with bruises. Saying this the greens staff have sanded and aerated and are trying to seed where they can.

The 14th green has a serious case of Fuzz disease. It was a real mess when I played there 10 days ago.

Im waiting to see if Im allowed...

Why are you not allowed? If you are a member you can play anytime. (or was that getting permission from HID)

The course is recovering from all the water we got over the winter period. I havent played much, but I hear it is drying well.
I am in woking and so can play if HID allow & PPs play..

dougieb >> one major change is they have trimmed the tree on the 13th (P4, SI 1) so makes it slightly easier to take the tiger line to cut the corner on the dogleg.
The greens need more work, but will be ready for late spring & summer onslaught..

Really happy with my round in general on Saturday (87) good for me but managed a very lucky eagle on the par 5 6th at merristwood. Messed up the 7th with a 7 which was really avoidable and just plain stupid so would have been an 85 if I didnt fluff a couple of chips.

Driver in the right hand rough - 6i lay up to around 100 yards out and a 50 degree wedge went in - I wish I had waited to see it drop - it looked bang on line but a bit short but one of the chaps in our 4 ball said it rolled up nicely and just dropped in.

Had to tell someone that might have a modicum of interest as the other half barely raised an eyebrow - lol

Good for you, well done.
