My first competition today

Well chaps after 2 years of playing for pleasure, I finally entered my first competition today at my home club, and experienced the back tees for the first time. Wow, its like I have another course to play on, with lots of new challenges. I only wish I had entered a competition a year ago, it was great fun, and I have already put my name down for my next one. Lack of confidence meant I put off entering a comp, but in the end I thought whats the worst that could happen? I didn't win, but I didn't come last and I had a great time. So if you fancy entering a competition, just go for it.:thup:

Glad you finally got over the lack of confidence. The thing to remember is that even if you play like a total muppet the worse that can happen is 0.1 back on the handicap

I have my first comp on Wednesday, only just joined and got handicap. I know I cant win it as its in the club rules that you cant win the first comp you enter.

It's great playing comps glad you've got started, the more you do the more natural they become and courses are always different from the whites. Enjoy!

Comps are just fantastic; the thrill of playing well, possibly getting into contention and getting your handicap cut are great feelings well done for giving it a go fella!

I think sometimes we get so worked up about standing on the tee in a competition for the first time,that when we eventually take the plunge,it turns out to be far less nerve wracking than we imagined.
