Muhammad Ali

Yes, turned the TV on and was met with this sad news, a fantastic sportsman and a great character in and out the ring, a true great in every sence.

R.I.P Cassius

One of my childhood heroes and someone who transcended sport in a unique way.

My dad suffered with and died as a result of Parkinson's disease. It is a horrible condition.

Sad, sad news.

Fastest hands I ever saw in a heavyweight. Easily the greatest boxer, and it'll be some boxer if ever that crown is taken.

the most charismatic sportsman to ever lace up the gloves .
a true legend of sport and a truly great man who refused to take up arms to kill a fellow man .
my all time sporting hero and i am typing this with tears running down my face .
REST IN PEACE MUHAMMED ,
you will always be the GREATEST.

Not a fan of boxing but was a fan of him - he was prob one of the most important sportsman in the last 50 years and a wonderful man , amazing showman and brilliant sense of humour and humility very sad to see how the illness took him and hope he now has peace.

Another true legend taken from us this year. A real entertainer without being trashy.

rip

There is a page on the bbc sports pages. Muhammed Ali in his own words. A fitting tribute to himself.

Anyone able to post it.

Muhammad Ali in his own words From that page and of all the quotes over the years I heard and read, this one has to be my favourite "I'll hit Liston with so many punches from so many angles he'll think he's surrounded." on a sad day, that made me smile.

Sad news, great boxer, greater man, RIP

Very sad news. A great fighter and a great man. Fought Parkinsons in the same way he fought in the ring and a real shame to see him reduced to a shuffling shadow. That image of him with the Olympic flame very sad. Been watching the tributes and the hand speed with those big heavy gloves was immense

“I ain’t draft dodging. I ain’t burning no flag. I ain’t running to Canada. I’m staying right here. You want to send me to jail? Fine, you go right ahead. I’ve been in jail for 400 years. I could be there for 4 or 5 more, but I ain’t going no 10,000 miles to help murder and kill other poor people. If I want to die, I’ll die right here, right now, fightin’ you, if I want to die. You my enemy, not no Chinese, no Vietcong, no Japanese. You my opposer when I want freedom. You my opposer when I want justice. You my opposer when I want equality. Want me to go somewhere and fight for you? You won’t even stand up for me right here in America, for my rights and my religious beliefs. You won’t even stand up for my right here at home."
Muhammad Ali, Rest in Power.
