Thought I would put together my ideal band to watch live. These are by no means the most proficient in their separate fields, but simply a collection of individuals that would be mesmerizing to watch on stage.

Singer/guitarist/harmonica – Howlin’ Wolf. – Arguably the greatest exponent of American Blues, but inarguably its greatest voice and showman.

Lead guitar/vocals – John Martyn – nothing is beyond him, and such an imaginative songwriter. Hard as nails, as well.

Rhythm guitar/vocals – David Gedge – (from The Wedding Present) instantly recognizable, and another brilliant songwriter.

Bass – Norman Watt-Roy – Simply, along with Jack Bruce maybe, top of his field.

Drums – Karl Burns – (from The Fall) – mesmerizing to watch, with that hint of insanity that exits with many great artists

Keyboards/Vocals – Tori Amos - mesmerizing to watch, with that hint of insanity that exits with many great artists, but also a brilliant songwriter.

Over to you…….

I remember buying tickets for Springsteen at Bramall Lane in Sheffield way back in 1987/88, to try and impress a girl I was keen on. I’d never been a huge Springsteen fan, but it was a price I was willing to pay.

Oh my god, he was good. Best part of four hours on stage, no break, and I was immediately a convert.

Never saw the lass again, but the day was certainly not wasted.

That's spooky. My sister was taken to a concert by a new boyfriend. She didn't know of Bruce at all but was completely blown away!

Still find it weird when I see Van Zandt playing guitar for Springsteen.
I watched Sopranos for years & had no idea 🤷‍♂️🤯

Howlin' Wolf and Gedge - love it.
If we could somehow fit Johnny Cash, Amy Winehouse and Brian Molko into the band too, I'd be thrilled.

I saw your dream lineup.....twice. They were brilliant. Greenfield almost made it into my line up, but Tori's stage presence won the day.

Feel like I want to do two versions, because a lot of my real favourite artists are somewhat lesser-known. First the supergroup version:

Vocals - Eddie Vedder
Guitar - Lindsey Buckingham
Guitar - Jack White
Bass - Flea
Drums - Dave Grohl

Now my lesser-known version:
Vocals - Jamie Lenman (Reuben)
Guitar - Mike Vennart (Oceansize)
Guitar - Simon Neil (Biffy Clyro)
Bass - Carlos Dengler (Interpol)
Drums - still Dave Grohl.
