Travelling down from Scotland in January and looking for a decent service stop with a Premier Inn/Travelodge style 'hotel'.
Between Stoke and Birmingham.

My memory thinks that they are all a bit awful but there must be a decent one somewhere.

Thanks.

Think there's one at Stafford services, think its a Days Inn. Nowt flash about it, and I'd avoid.

However, there's 2x Prem Inns @ Stafford North (Hurricane & Spitfire), about a mile off the motorway and easily accessible. They are across the road from each other and both have Toby/Beefeater places next door.

Sounds like the place I used on a retail park, it was absolutely fine. Close to the motorway, we went into town to eat in the evening then grabbed breakfast next door before straight back on the road. Recommended!

That's them. Next to some car dealers from what I remember...

Thanks Hogan.
The service station on the M6 toll is very nice but might mean a route change.
Anyone know if it has accommodation linked.

It has a Days Inn. Think the HI Express Hogie mentions is near Lichfield, and on a small retail park, next to a gym. Stopped there about 10 years back. Typical Express.

There's another Holiday Inn express off Junc 13 and if you went for that option would recommend eating out at The Moat House in Acton Trussell which is about 1.5 miles away

Coming from the North you can't get to it off toll road , you'd have to come off M6 at 12 and go down A5, watch out for speed cameras. You can join toll road from there with not much effort.

Thanks, I thought there was one southbound.
I was very grateful for the northbound one a couple of years ago when awful traffic took me 5 hours to get there from Winchester
